TNA Suggestions thread V.2 (thoughts on the new vids floating around)
|
In the last week, a handful of gameplay vids have surfaced, and I thought a new suggestions thread should be made in aftermath of their release.
I know the game isn't near completion, so my thoughts are based entirely on these vids.
SELLING
Everybody seems to get up rather quickly no matter what just happened to them whether it be a hiptoss or a gigantic fall off the Ultimate X. A lack of selling is a bad thing in wrestling games.
STRIKING
Everyone seems to go crazy with the strikes like it was a... Mortal Kombat game. Slow it down a little bit, so it isn't a complete slugfest.
SFX
The monstrous groans that are bellowed seem a bit over the top. It couldn't hurt to record maybe half a dozen TNA guys grunting and groaning in many different ways, so it sounds at least a little more authentic and less... demonic?
The sounds the ring makes is a bit distracting too. It could be toned down so it doesn't sound like a gunshot every time someone takes a bump. (Maybe that squeaking sound when someone bounces off the ropes could be added?)
I like how the commentators actually sound excited to be there and they actually do call moves more often than their SVR counterparts. Maybe it's because there isn't a lot of material done, but I already see some repetition of lines in these short gameplay vids. It's annoying to hear "He's going up top" every time someone climbs the turnbuckles to reach the Ultimate X cables. Also, sometimes the reaction of the commentators seems to be in reverse. Someone falls off the Ultimate X and the commentators talk normally. Then, moments later a fist drop on the ground connects and Don West's goes insane! It just doesn't flow right.
Overall, I think the game is very aesthetically pleasing so far, and it does look fun to play.

I agree with everything said except maybe the ring noise but the rest is spot on. I'm really hoping this will be a good game and even though I doubt the developers pay attention to much of whats being said here in the forums they should really take those things into consideration. Pushing this game to be better than No Mercy is a challenge, the best part of No Mercy was the depth in moves you could do.
