Hey Blacksite help needed
|
hello all
I recently bought and installed blacksite.
However when I went to play the game I got a message stating my video mode isnt supported.
I tried reducing my screen res incase the game was picking up on that, changing settings on my gfx card and also tried looking for a file in the blacksite directory that may solve the problem, all of which didnt help.
I tried the patches, none of them worked, I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if they did, do they have a solution.
Thanks

Please read the sticky thread. The ONLY way to get official technical support is via the link in the sticky. This forum is for users to assist each other, not for official support.

I almost never put in my 2 cents concerning customer/tech support service issues but I feel that there is a question which is just begging to be asked concerning all of the comments surrounding the inability of so many customers who purchased Black Site to be able to play the game even after 2 patches have been released (I'm talking about the black screen/stretched hour glass issue). That question is, since we are supposed to contact Midway tech support for help, not this tech issues forum, as the Moderator informs us, WHY HAS NOT ONE SINGLE CUSTOMER ENTERED A COMMENT WITHIN THIS FORUM STATING THAT THEIR PROBLEM WITH THE BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH HAS BEEN ADDRESSED AND RESOLVED BY MIDWAY'S TECH SUPPORT? I know that if I was given the resolution to this issue I would be shouting it from the rooftops in this forum praising Midways tremendous tech support service. Alas, I have yet to see such an entry. Draw your own conclusion!!!!

I bought this game without reading any reviews and have since come to find out that was a monumental mistake. I know, really stupid, huh. Well, since then, I was determined to make it up to myself and to others in the same boat and help to find some kind of medium to the extremely poor video performance and bugs I and appearently everybody else experienced immediately after installation. Here is my solution to the issue and hopefully this helps you out too. This solution is for a SLI setup.
1. If you haven't already done this, uninstall your video driver, restart and go to Nvidia website and download and install the newest driver 169.21.
2. Download the Patch version 1.2 at this link: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/blacksite/download_6183383.html INSTALL IT.
3. Open up Nvidia Control panel, click on Manage 3D Settings, click on the Program Settings tab in the right window, click the add button, navigate the explorer window to C:\Program Files\Midway Home Entertainment\BlackSite Area 51\Binaries\Blacksite.exe, click on that file and click on open.
4. Change only these settings:
Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration = Single display performance mode.
SLI performance mode = Force alternate frame rendering 2.
5. Click on Apply at bottom right screen.
6. Run DXDIAG.EXE by clicking on Start, Run and type DXDIAG in the run window. Click on "Sound" tab and adjust the sound accelleration to 3/4.
I noticed that after I changed the SLI performance mode to that setting my two 7900 GS KO cards and system now produced around 170fps when running Fraps at game startup. I can now run the game at 1440 X 900 resolution and depending on my quality, antialising, anisotropic stuff and all other settings, I average at least 45-50fps vs 12-14fps when I started. This gets rid of that really crappy blurry look and made the game extremely playable for me.
As for the other glitches and bugs and story line in this game....Midway needs to get off their butts and start taking responsibility for their shortcomings, poor development process, business practices and total lack of customer support.
area 51 sli fix blacksite sli performance poor graphics crappy
