I am disappointed in the way a company like Midway handles their products/developmet and customer service/support. This company has been in the gaming market for quite a long time. I, for one, grew up playing their games in the 25 cent arcade halls as a kid. Now as an adult, I can not beleive that their management team allows such a poorly developed product to release to market before it actually works.

After reading several posts in the forum on the poor functionallity of Area 51 Blacksite, I am appalled that this game was actually relased to consumers WITHOUT any corrective action to fix the product. In my opinion this is the same as fraud. I.E. selling a product to consumers that does not function properly. They might have just as well boxed 2 blank disks and sold them for $50. The sad thing is, they apparently don't care.

As a member of the management team of a 3 billion dollar company, we would be standing in the unemplyment line if we let non-functioning product to go out our door en mass.

I for one will be very reluctant in purchasing any future products from Midway.

First, Midway has already released two patches for Blacksite and I assure you they are constantly working to help customers resolve any issues as quickly as possible.

Mod,
They might be working on a fix, but in all my gaming days, I have never purchased a game that 2 weeks later I couldn't even get past the main menue. I've had problems several times with various games develpoed be various companies, but they always delivered a WORKING patch within days of the games release. The software engineers who developed this game should have a working knowledge of how this game can be fixed to work for the masses. My system more than meets the specs to run this, and any other game; all my drivers are the latest, yet I can't even get into the game play. I'm 54 years old, and have no problem paying for what I enjoy, and I totally understand that issues pop up occasionally, and have to be resolved; but this is weeks later, and I still can't play my 50+ dollars game. I'll be willing to bet money that if this were Sierra or Microsoft; the game would be playable for the masses by now. You can spin it anyway you like, but the fact remains that I, and many, many others have paid out 50+ dollars for a product that consists of a box, a manual, and disks, and an unplayable game. Give me a break, and let's be real here.

I didn't post to argue any points with you all. I just wanted to resolve misinformation in the first post stating that nothing has been done to rectify any of the issues, which is false.

I am a gamer myself and I know full well the frustration you all feel. I'd just like to let you know that there there aren't malicious little goblins over in customer support laughing at your pain. I'm certain they take every support request seriously and are working to fix it.

I believe dv8 because when they released Midway Arcade Treasures Deluxe, we had problems with it working properly.'

They omitted the music from the game.

But 2 weeks later a new patch came out for it to fix this problem.

Don't you think it's weird how 360 Blacksite gamers haven't been complaining - you also understand that you'll never hear from people generally who have the game up and running with no problems.. you (mostly) hear from people who have an issue...

With that in mind...

Let's think.

1> As many PC games as there are in the world today... with less people to beta / alpha test than get released..

2> Everybody's gaming PC is different, if it wasn't, people wouldn't have problems.

3> Just because some get problems doesn't mean one company is to blame. The blame has to go somewhere - heaven forbid, it's because 'our PC's' can't actually run the game, or that something on our PC's isn't up to date, or that there's a conflict with a file the game uses.

4> Maybe it's because people have installed weird things, maybe because they don't have minimum spec that it says on the box, maybe its because they aren't PC literate enough to install something (Vista). Maybe, just maybe it's the users issue, not the company.

If the game needs a patch, because of a known issue EVERYONE is getting, rest assured the company will be working on it.

Now the unneccesary bit 'You're in a 3 billion dollar company.. well done.. im in a considrably more than that dollar company, as internal PC support, but its totally ireelevant.

The only bit that IS relevant is that i see a host of issues with people's PC everyday. People who have the SAME build on their machine but have different issues.

WHY?

Because they install different things to their identical builds.

Getting my point now? It's not always the first product (in this analogy, the identical build is the game 'Blacksite', but the other stuff (in this case, the additional things people have put there.)

To dv8within8,
My comments came from a feeling of frustration, and were not meant to belittle you, or anyone else. Others can talk about "different", and "like" PC builds, and software installs all they want. I am a MCSE, and I know PC's well enough to build/repair them almost blindfolded. I have no intention of kicking this around over, and over. It cost me right at $11,000.00 to take the full Windows 2000 track(2000 was the current OS when I went to school), so I know how to, and in what order to install software, ect. One last analogy; If you were to go buy car, boat, or any other recreational item(which is basically what gaming is for me), and the car would start, or the boat wouldn't float; would you want the company to tell you they were working on it, and after a month you still had your "boat anchor"sitting in the driveway unusable? I would loved to have bought the game, installed it, and proceeded to rave about what a great game it is, and what a great company Midway is. I don't have endless amount of time to chase down workarounds for my software. I simply pre-ordered a game, and waited with great anticipation for a fun experience that never came. Have I bought games that felt like they were a waste of money? Yes; but they at least let me play them to make an evaluation. Midway asisde; any company that takes 50+ dollars of my money, and I get nothing for it, has ripped me off. I'll tell you how me and Midway can be good friends again; they can recall this game, or give me my money back, or even a credit towards a "playable game". I'm trying to understand your opinion, and you have a right to it; but please don't try to tell me it's the fault of my system. I've got "3" computers networked together, as I needed them when studying "network topology" for my Microsoft studies; all 3 are in the 1500.00 to 2000.0o range, they are crammed full of ram, and high end vid cards, as well as high end processors. I am a drywall contractor, and have been in business for 30 years, and the most important advice I can give any existing company is that customer satisfaction is number 1, and always will be. I feel cheated. Let me end this reply by saying "if I have offended you or anyone else; it was not my intention, and I humbly apologize to you".
John Sr....excuse the spelling, I was in kind of a hurry this morning, and didn't have time to proof read.
J.SR.
