Multiplayer mode for Wii Cruis'n?

When I start up Cruis'n on the Wii, the "Multiplayer" choice of the main menu is grayed out and I can't choose it. If I start up Wii tennis, it lets us play with two players with no problem, so I know that the Wii sees both remotes, but Cruis'n won't let us play in multiplayer mode so that we can race against each other. Does anyone know what I should do?

try resyncing the remotes, this happens sometimes to me, also before you press play on the wii menu, try the second remote, it should show up as a red hand on the screen. this ensures it is working, some games like the tennis one, are able to detect second remote after game has begun while some, including my dragon ball z game, dont. hope that helps
