Did anyone read my post?? ^^ two posts up?

I have done this with version 1.1 and it works great, i dont have any problems running the game.
apart from the excessive amount of motion blurrrrrrrrrrr.

Its not just a problem with the refresh, its a problem with the resolution being unsupported by the monitor.
the HD resolution it pumps out just doesnt want to work properly with some monitors.

unfortunately my "little fix" doesnt help 1.2

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

EDD

Sad to say that evildeaddan's fix didn't work for me on any version of the game.

I did notice that on the short created for the game it has a -language option, hopefully this means there may be other options used for development. Perhaps if midway monitors these boards and if further option do exist they may help. An option to fix startup resolution would certainly help, as would the option to skip intro movies.

The intro movies themselves don't seem to be encoded properly even when using the blink video player the video is watchable but the sound is still choppy I've even tried re-encoding them to a lower resolution which failed to help.

Also did midway actually have a hand in programmming or are they mearly a publisher, if so we need to hound the actual developer.

sorry to hear it didnt work.

What is with all these buggy games being released, tonnes of the new games released last year have so many bugs its unbeleivable.

ive been playing the game fine, but i got a good way through the game and now the sound is bouncing about like an idiot.

so ive given up, its on the back of my shelf to play once again if/when they have released a few patches and then ill consider playing it again.

I have managed to get to the menu by waiting for a looong time...the black screen that everyone is talking abt passes on to the ESRB notice and than towards the menu...but it takes a very long time...the menu lags and it takes a long time to simply move ur selection from one button towards another. I have navigated towards the video settings and changed fullscreen to NO. As a result, the game runs the same but in the window.
Now...everytime i press the windoes button, the game remaines on the desctop but starts ti run normally...even the menu functions very fast. But everytime i click nd the window is selected the game starts lagging again...
i ve switched off all the video options but it doesn't solve the problem...i can only view the game in the window without clicking on it...:(

Hello. I too have fought with this new blacksite game. Here is what I finally did to make it run.
I closed out my msconfig to run diagnostic level. Then checked all the ms systems. well it is the plug and play!!!! i close it out the game runs beautiful, i turn it on the game won't run.
Now i have to find out how to get me some sound, because my sound card is plugged into plug and play.
Any help with this will be greatly accepted.

Thanks!

Tom

YAY!.. IF YOU HAVE THE BLACK SCREEN ISSUE ON STARTUP, I'VE JUST FIXED IT ON MY SYSTEM - READ BELOW FOR FIX

I'm running Vista Ultimate 64, on a quad 3ghz, 8gb ram and an NVidia 8800GT.

Every time i ran the game, i could hear the music, but only had the blackscreen appear. Had to crash out to desktop.

Anyway, the fix is this. To simply replace ALL instances of X=1280 to X=1024, and Y=720 to Y=768 in ALL the ini files.

I used "search and replace" tool from FOSI (google FOSI!) to replace them. Remember to specify just *.ini files, and include all sub-dirs. Just took me a few seconds and now the game loads, and I can change the res to 1280x1024.

Quite why midway didn't set the default to 1024x768 I don't know. They probably compiled it on a widescreen and didn't think of it.

Anyway, if you have any questions message me, and if there is great demand for an easy fix, I might create a quick patch to do it automatically.

Good luck, and hope this helps!

Is there any other fixes, like a patch 1.3? I made those changes after updating to 1.2, but now the no-cd patch I was trying out doesn't work either. Guess I'll try the actual DVD again to see if it works now or not, though most likely I will just uninstall the game and put Midway on my **** list! Seems like such an easy fix, if only they would get off their butt and fix this thing. wink

Nope, neither the DVD or the no-cd patches work. Nor does it work on the non-patched 1.0 release as well. All I get by making the change listed here is no black screen but an crash buddy error. Whatever that is...

Sheesh, and Midway used to be a decent game company! Now mostly not worth bothering with. sad

Yep, I've got this too.

All the latest drivers and other such. CPU goes to 100% and I get a black screen and a cursor. I see occassional drove light flickers, but that's about it.

Hey Midway. I spent money on this. If you want to encourage game buyers and not game pirates, don't penalize the people who invest in you by giving them garbage.

All I want to know is, when will Midway get off their butts and fix this rather huge problem? Sheesh, I know of no one who has played the game without many hassles to do so in fact... :\

Really, I already tried the customer support email address listed on their site giving all of the info requested in their FAQ, however all I got was a reply asking me to do the stuff I told them didn't work and to send a DXDIAG file that was sent with the original post already to begin with. Customer Service? I think not! Oh well, I hope it is fixed soon otherwise I think we all should get in touch with the Better Business Bureau. No other company gets away with selling defective crap, why can the game companies? :\

I as well have black screen and cursor at top.For some reason messing with the nvidia settings in the nvidia control panel got it to run only to the menu and then the sound stuttered and it froze. but i reran it and it doesnt work.i think thats strange.i have probably spent 4 hours looking for fixes.the only one i havent tried is changing the x=1280 y=720 using search and replace.we will see what that does.i too believe it is a resolution problem because i couldnt get Half life 2 to run.i was running a radeon 9800 pro.it would say loading and go back to my desktop.i found out that i had to run a certain driver version.as soon as i loaded that version, the issue was resolved.but im not sure if this is a similiar issue or not.it does appear to run when it wants to though.i hope that they find a fix.i want to say something for midway.i believe they are working on this.i was tech support for directv and with the issues that came up,they were working on them.you have to realize what THEY are going through.Going through a bunch of code and finding the issue may not be easy.not only that but midway supports more than one game.
