i picked up the game and have tested in 3 different machines that had creative soundcards seeing as i couldnt get past the menu in my machine
finally i disabled the audigy and enabled the onboard sound and made it the default sound in the system
game runs fine now but next gen ?

this issue wasntnt fixed in the 1.1 patch either

truely (MIDWAY) ye are living up to the name of the company ,get a game halfway through development and release it to retail

I have a Creative SB Audigy card, and I'm seeing the same problem. I can't play the game. It freezes up, with the sound card in a tight loop on whatever it was playing when it crashed.

I installed the 1.1 patch, and it didn't help.

Is there a fix in sight? I have no intention of re-configuring my system (to disable my sound card) just to play this game. I'll just return the game.

I have the same issues and it pisses me off that it could have went gold with a issue like this seeing how many appear to be having it. ANYWAY, is desperation i had a yamaha sound card so i put that in taken out my creative labs card but now i only get to the second opening video and it starts looping and crashes, i dont have onboard sound so i did what i can but cmon there should be at least a patch on the way for the ppl that paid for it and cannot even start a game. i tryed to return it bit they will not take it back only in trade and in that case i lose money. i am pretty bitter about this so what is the word, is there a work around for it or a patch?

sry for my bad english iam german

i have fixed the sound loop crash, you must go to directx and disable sound hardware acceleration

now i can play with sound juhuuuu

hope it will work for you guys too

thanks for the input and it does seem to work although the menus saty pretty sluggish i do manage to get in game but once it starts i then lose sound all togather like in the opening sequence when ur in transport and the guys are talking but i dont hear anything there is just is no sound whatsoever for me. but at least it is running. i think with the amount of ppl who seem to have this issue they would adress it sooner. sorry i am just bitter i spent the money on the game and the frigging wont give me a complete refund i guess. sad

any other way around this let me know and thanks for posting that much it helped a bit.

This did help, but not enough to make the game playable. But thanks for the info!

My experience was the same as deadbeat's. With hardware acceleration turned off, at least it doesn't freeze up. But the menus are very sluggish, with the responsiveness coming in bursts. And once I got into the game, my sound was gone altogether.

So still unplayable.

Ok... I`m having the same damn problem with the game... I manage to see the menu but then it freezes X( can someone please tell me how to fix this problem ( the 1.2 patch doesn`t fix it - go figure... ) at least please tell me how do I disable my sound hardware accelreration

Game has exactly the same problems with Realtek onboard HD audio with latest drivers - crashes on load up or as soon as menu appears - disabing audio acceleration improves *slightly* proving it's a sound issue but still unplayable.

My advice is if a fix isn't forthcomming VERY soon then return it to store - UK consumers should have no problems getting their money back provided they don't let the ass wipe store assistant bully them - just state that under the sale of goods act the Game is 'Not Fit for Purpose' as it isn't compatible with the products of several major sound card vendors including Creative Labs, Yamaha and Realtek, not sure about US consumer rights but I suspect you'll get a refund if you put forward a sensible case.

As for Midway, WHAT A CLUSTER****! I think the fact that the creative director responsible for this game called it's development a ****up and was promptly fired just about says it all.

Just got the game and the same problem here (Creative Soundblaster Live 5.1). Deactvating hardware acceleration doesn't help at all! This game is out for almost a month and no fix for this problem? Are you f***ing kidding me? This company should get sued big time!

The requirements on the box say:
Sound: Base audio (but 5.1) supported.

Saying something like this on the box, which clearly isn't true is fraud!


EDIT:

I'm hysterically laughing my *** off right now! I somehow managed to get past the menus (which, btw. don't save the set resolution, even when you exit the game properly). The game starts (with freezes every few seconds, of course) and what does my character do? Automatically look to the ground. When I use the mouse to look up, he looks down again. And the right side of the screen is decorated with a line of randomly coloured pixels.

Seriously: who put this game together? They must have been the lousiest, amateurish group of careless nogoods in game's history. I've seen tons of bugged ridden releases in my 20 years of gaming, but Blacksite for PC takes the cake! This is an insult! Whoever greenlit this steaming pile of nonworking rubbish for release needs be put out his job for life! And no fix for these gamestopping issues either? Way to go midway... you sure know how to not do business. Do you think people will forget who released a bugridden trashcan like Blacksite? No, they won't. I won't. I was looking forward to UT3 as well, but I'm gonna pass on that one to, because it says "Midway" on it's box.

But who I'm writing this for? No one from Midway will read this, because the care as much about their customers, as they care about quality assurance and their reputation: a rat's behind.

I'm having the same problems as you guys are. The Suffering 2: Ties That Bind plays fine except for the audio issues. It keeps cutting in and out or becomes choppy. I have upgraded all my drivers to no avail.

What bothers me the most is reading all these posts going back months and no one has answered them. It makes me wonder if I am wasting my time posting here and waiting for an answer.

I will say if there isn't a solution coming or I don't get any answers on how to solve this problem soon then I am taking the game back and file a complaint with the store manager. And I will never buy anything from Midway again.

There are too many other companies out there whom I could buy games from and not have this problem.

Myself and a couple of others blasted them about a week ago. We found the producer of this game and appealed to their business sense and got blown off. Our Thread was called Disgrace and they took it off the forum.
They read this but wont respond.
The message is clear to all.
DO NOT BUY MIDWAY PRODUCTS, unless you like giving your money that will rip you off.

Ive seen this issue fixed by using the default Microsoft driver for your creative sound card.

Tried it. Doesn't work. Same issues.

That's the first thing I tried when I had problems. It didn't work...

I tried pretty much everything except replacing a sound card that works fine with, and is supported by, EVERY other game on the market that I ever bought!

It's Midway's job to fix a broken game, and not the user's task to try fixing a completely fine and operational system.

You forget to realize that these forums are user to user only and Midway Staff do not read these threads.

Sheyla is just a moderator hired by Midway to keep these forums in check and has no relationship to the developers at midway in any way.

So if you are having issues your only recourse is to contact the support directly.
