I've been in contact with Midway support for a few weeks now, sending info in and trying their suggestions, and today i got a message back indicating that the issue has been escalated to the development team to be addressed.
To help them out, i would encourage anyone experiencing this issue who meets the system requirements (2 gigs ram especially) to follow the below posted steps, this way they'll have the info they need to best address this.
This is the second half of their recommendations, the first half being rudimentary system cleaning, ie try a clean boot (through msconfig) and reinstall the latest non-beta drivers:
g. Generate the three items detailed here from your clean booted system (dxdiag, msinfo32, screen grab of open processes window:

h. Launch Stranglehold. Make note (or take screen grabs) of any errors, and exactly what transpires. We need all these details with the information requested above.
i. Please update your support ticket (using the link at the bottom of this page) after following these steps and attach all of the requested documents (using the Browse buttons).
With any luck this will lead to a hotfix or patch or something. Thanks!
