I made an inquiry about the sound issue in the 360 version. See my other topic here
http://forums.midway.com/all_things_stranglehold/b10788/27546910/p1/?0
I posted that topic to support except for the last 3 lines. Here is the response i got back.
Response:
Thank you for contacting Midway Tech/Customer Support. Please see below for details about your inquiry to Midway.
Have you checked the audio settings on your 360 aren't at fault? Goto System from the dashboard, then Audio and ensure your audio is set to Dolby 5.1.
Regards,
Midway Tech/Customer Support
Durrrr geee, i would've never though of checking THAT!
Either this is an automated response, or they are trying to cover up a known problem by treating me like an idiot. Of course i checked my xbox 360 settings, as i told them, other games work fine in 5.1, but during the prerendered cutscenes in Stranglehold on 360, the audio is so quiet and only through 2 channels.
Looks like another company lying about their game (supports 5.1) when it's only half assed.

How on earth would they know that you'd already tried that, if you didn't tell them? They deal with users with all sorts of knowlege levels, and they have to assume that if you don't specifically say you did something, you didn't do it.
Also, yours is the first complaint I've heard that pertains to this sort of thing. I have no idea what the Tech Support team has dealt with, but normally computer-savvy people like to complain on the forums more than to Tech Support (which is why we're constantly referring people to Official Tech Support), so if this was a widespread problem, I'd think someone else would have posted about it. If it's not a problem for others, I'd also be thinking it was something about your system.
Has anyone else here had this same issue? Please post here, if you have, and maybe we can track down some more info to send to the team!

I hope it's just a problem with my disc cause all my other 360, ps3 and wii games work on all 5 channels, my speakers are logitech z-5500, thx certified dolby digital speakers, so there really shouldnt be an issue.
Everytime games come out with problems like this it usually falls on deaf ears. Another game recently that had sound issues like this is halo 3. The gunfire effects are almost muted.
Then i read this percentage chart in game informer recently, it seems like companies devote the least amount of resources on sound design.
I was surprised the bonus dvd praises the sound design so much. But yea i suppose the sound is good during gameplay but when the good storyline sequences occur, The sound quality just drops.
It's just a buzzkill when you get excited for a new john woo storyline and theres not even proper audio or at least subtitles, then i gotta crank up the volume for cinemas, then lower it way down before gameplay starts so i don't blow out my speakers (and my ears). Just the sign of bad sound design.
I think Bioshock was a game recently that really nailed it's sound design, it's not overly loud but you still hear all the atmosphere and voices perfectly even without subtitles.
