Suffering TTB on PC - Problem at beginning of the game
|
Just got the game, installed it fine. I start it up, we start in the prison yard with Miles, (I think it's Miles, anyway), and the riot starts. The prisoners petrol bomb the gate controls, Miles will occasionally go through the gate, but won't go into the building, with me leading or waiting for him to go.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated as I'm really looking forward to playing this game.
Thanks to anyone who may be able to help me out with this.

I have the same problem (among others) with this game.
At first, I couldn't even get the gate to open. Just never happened. Checked Midway Support KB and they said this is a known issue when you run the game at a resolution different from your desktop.
So I make sure my desktop and game resolution match and now the sequence finishes and the gate opens. I thought - cool, great! NOT!
No matter what I do, where or how long I wait, Miles will not enter the building. He just stands there like a dumb ***.
Because the scripting is so bad, because mouse movement is sooooo laggy and because it's obvious to me that the developers aren't going to support the game, I uninstalled the POC and just have to accept the fact that I threw away 30 bucks.
Too bad too. The game looked promising. It's really frustrating when you have a high end machine and exceed the "recommended" system requirements by a mile and still can't play the game.

Yes ...
i have also difficulties !!
funny really , you pay good money and end up with frustrations .
more even if you own a high-end game pc and still cannot play the game .
in my case i can't read some papers given by miles & carmen at the start of the game , in T's former bedroom .
by the way , i fixed a slaggy mouse by increasing the mouse sensivity .
perhaps it will help , bye , Hellbaker .

I got a reply from Midway, saying about the "change resolution of desktop", which sucks as my desktop is 1024x768, same as my games, but when I changed the resolution, after about 5 minutes Miles did go into the building, but then I couldn't pick up any Xodium bottles until I changed my resolution BACK to 1024x768....WTF???
If I have to keep changing my resolution everytime I want to further the game with a character and pick something up, this game is gonna get real old real fast.

I remember a BIG issue I had with the game at the beginning, which was resolved by running an update patch for the StarForce driver (GRRRR Star$%^#@$). Anyway, if you haven't already done so... you might try that. Download the updated driver here: http://www.star-force.com/protection/users/
The other problem I had initially was HORRIFIC framerates (my PC well exceeds the requirements). This issue was resolved by turning down (or turning off) hardware acceleration for sound, using the DirectX Diagnostic utility. Go to START > RUN type DXDIAG then select the SOUND tab. Or, updated sound card drivers might also help.
These are just a couple stabs in the dark, things that MIGHT help.

Thanx for replying, but I've tried those already. The main problem I had with the Starforce *spit* drivers was that I use ZAPro, so it completely rebooted my system, until I updated the "illegal" Starforce drivers. I'm all for copy protection, but when it starts damaging people's systems, then it's getting beyond a joke

I think it's because your PC rocks. I suggest turn the resolution ALL the way up and turn ON anti-aliasing also turn ON Vsync. I'd also start a new game file. Ditch the old one.
