MK Trilogy freezes on my PS2 as well plus the sound jumps 
which is a shame because i can't find my old PS1 proberly somehwere covered in spiderwebs
They should defiantly make a Midway MK collection

My Trilogy freezes on the PS2 also. It happens way more if you choose some options in Option mode. Like turning the Buy-In Screen off, and Vs. Screen off. There's one in particular that freezes my game every time. I can't remember it right now, though. I'll post it tomorrow if I get the chance.

the game is too old or it doesns't fit with the ps2 console. Or you can say it's scratched or damaged badly.

I get very little freezes by doing this:
Turnin on PS2 with either no disc, or disc slot open.
Press Triangle when the screen with the "Browser" and "Configurations" shows up.
Change your driver speed to fast. (Go to Driver options to do this. I can't remember exactly how to do it, and I can'tplug in my PS2 right now. It's not hard to find, you have to press triangle on one of the 5 options for it to show up)
Start up game and go to options (this is where I get frozen the most)
Go to game cnfigurations
Turn off the Agressor, time, versus screen, and the thing that turns off characters on the character selesct screen. KEEP BUY-IN SCREEN ON
This can keep me busy for several hours without any messups. Just don't go into Options too often, becaus that's when I get the most freezes.

QUALITY PLAYER!
I used 4 players to beat the game:
Rain - first few characters before endurance battle
Sub Zero - use for endurance battle
Ermac - use for Goro, Kintaro, Motaro
Noob Saibot - use for Shao Kahn

dont play MKT on a PS2,it freezes once you beat kahn everytime,so guys its happening to everyone
if you play it on PS1,it works fine though

I've lost my PS1, i have been able to play it on PS2 and defeat Shao Kahn without it freezing, but the majority of the time it does freeze
I will have to try and find my PS1

you have to leave the buy-in screen on! it has been said before, i had it crash over 1000 times then i leave buy-in on and hasn't crashed ever again.
