I bought this 2 days ago and I have to say, I'm glad I waited until it was marked down! 2 days play and I am now annoyed with it ehough to shelve it.

So why am I even writing here?
Well I love fight games and this one had so many of the features that irritate me to no end that I hope some honest feedback could help fight games become better in the future.

Graphics: No complaints here. Visually pleasing.

AI: Irritating. In story mode the AI would go completely psychotic first time though, continue and then the AI would be a complete walk over. Not too bad, but it was aggrivated by the following two.

Controls: Clugy and far from smooth. The game I feel lacked a great deal of flow and tempo. The game is nothing more than a mash the buttons in the predetermined order as fast as you can and hope it works. I'd put the controls way below Street Fighter 4 or Dead or Alive. It's definately no Tekken.

Loading Screens: Almost EVERY fight game stuffs this up! If I'm fighting a close fight and I lose, I don't want to see a loading screen followed by rechoosing my character, have the default character NOT be the one I'm using, see the pointless ladder, see another loading screen, not having any key that skips pointless chatter .... Most times I want to click continue and start over with everything as is! The same arena, same opponent, same character ... everything is already in memory. Why oh why can you not have an option that simply resets the appropriate variables and starts the fight over? I don't want to sit there forever and stew waiting at loading screens! Hevean forbid if you lose more than 3 or 4 times!

Moves: The standard moves seem almost contrived. There is no flow to making some of your own combos, that seem like they should move together, work. There is a lack of freedom in thought in how you can put these things together and what can be used to counter other things.

Close Kombat: Get rid of this gimick! It's annyoing and destroys the flow of the fight.

Falling/Transition scenes: Another way to punish a player for winning! If you manage to trigger this your best bet is TO PRESS NOTHING! The AI will flip you almost straight away on the harder difficulties and turns this "feature" into nothing more than an annoyance that kills the flow of the game. If you do attack, you risk everything you do to your opponent being put on you instead. Something I'd rather avoid than want to try and set off!

Those are the main things that annoyed the hell out of me in my two days playing this. I'm going back to SF4 & SC4 while I wait for Tekken 6 to come out.

You mean SF4, as in the game in which when i first played someone online - as soon as i unsealed it - i won, by chance. And SC4 as in the game where you cannot even jump properly, and move as if you are on rails?

Agree with MOF.

I agree with the topic creator on the Free Fall Kombat thing, but his other points lead me to believe that he has not really learned to play this game yet.

@ topic creator:
It sounds as if you are attempting to play this game like Tekken...dont do that. This game plays more like a mix of UMK3 and Street Fighter. It has the short chain combos of UMK3 and the ability to perform 2-in-1 combos ala Street Fighter(2-in-1 means that you can perform a secial attack immediately following a basic attack to form a combo).

The game felt clunky at first...as did Street Fighter IV, but once you learn the pro-move system and how to properly perform the combos and juggles, you'll find a decent fighting game under the hood. You may want to try the online mode for some real opponents. The CPU is trash and you will never realize the potential of the game if all you play is the AI. My only complaints are the lack of a patch for balancing the game and Superman's / Flash's redicullous infinite combos.

Peace
