MAJOR CHARACTERS
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Mortal_Kombat_characters
MINOR CHARACTERS
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_minor_Mortal_Kombat_characters
i know minor characters arnt vey important but he said a few unexpected characters will be in
im to lazy to come up with a list so post ur thoughts!!!

I doubt we'll ever see any of the minor characters again except maybe in a storyline sequence or a quick battle such as Argus, Wu Lae, Monster, that sort of thing. I doubt they will ever make it into another game. Although I would like to see them in; there is a better chance of me winning the lottery without buying a ticket than seeing them in.

well...i counted the ones with the most appearances of any form, and the roster klooks quite plausible and is even balanced between good and evil.
in addition to sub, sonya, scorp and shangwe have:

kano
looks pretty good to me

I went through it. Here's a list of MK characters who were playable without altering, in 3 games or more.
Exclusions: MK3(Because of UMK3),MKA,MKT,MK4(Because of MKG)MKTE,MKU,MKA,MKM,SF,SM
Subzero - 5 or 6 (If you count Sub as Older Sub) *
Scorpion - 6 *
Raiden - 5
Liu Kang - 5
Sonya - 4 *
Reptile - 4
Noob - 3 or 4 (If you count Noob as Older Sub)
Kung Lao - 4
Cage - 4
Jax - 4
Baraka - 3
Cyrax - 3
Kano - 3
Kitana - 3
Mileena - 3
Shang Tsung - 3 *
* = already confirmed. Well...that's a tough list...16 people...only 12 allowed!
I think, pretty much everyone in 4 games and up, are in.

i just found out the ultimate way to figure out the roster!!!! wait for midway or an mk member to reveal teh characters by the time they are all done you will know the entire roster
