Basically somthing is going to happen to Bruce Wayne and somone may become the next Batman, my bet is it will be Tim(Robin) or Dick(Nightwing). If you read the summary for an upcoming Robin issue it looks like Tim Drake the current Robin might be the bat for a bit, I'm pretty sure Bruce will be back, but I guess we'll see anything could happen. The whole Batman R.I.P. will also be in the Nightwing books in the upcoming months.

Or Nightfall Batman after Bane did a backbreaker to Bruce and he had to recover.

Lots of rumors floating around that DC is going to kill off Batman. I highly doubt it, since Batman is a multi-million dollar franchise in and of himself. Movies, merchandising, etc. won't allow that to happen, for good anyways. If they ever do replace Bruce Wayne permanently, I think the only logical choice would be Dick Grayson/Nightwing.

Batman Beyond isn't canon to the comic. Plus Terry was never Robin in the first place. Beyond wasn't even in continuity with the DC Animated Universe until one of the final Justice League season finale.
Batman R.I.P. Possible Spoilers-
I've heard that the event would culminate in Bruce Wayne giving up the title for a period of time while continuing to solve crimes privately without his Bat-persona.

Nah. Terry McGuinness never popped in DC comics until a couple of years ago. Bizarro and Batzarro(I kid you not) got lost in alternate worlds. Bizarro ended up briefly facing off against Batman Beyond while Batzarro met Superman from Red Son.

Hey, Madcap! Has Batzarro been seen since that? I read that storyline in Sup/Bat and I've not seen him since. Now that I think of it Bizarro definately wouldn't work for this game. Superman is weakened by the magic, okay. But Bizarro isn't and they would be in the same spot they were with Superman to begin with. A ridiculously powerful character that's way too tough, albeit a complete moron like Bizarro.

I agree with this. But in Robin's July issue it says he becomes the new dark night, I guess we'll see how this whole thing plays out.

A tv show would confuse the hell out of too many people for it to work.
Batzarro hasn't appeared since Superman/Batman, but a Batzarro popped in on another story(different character).
The magic explanation works for Superman, but they're gonna have to pull a deus ex with it to explain other characters. Wonder Woman, for example, is sometimes said to be "Superman at 99%". Still, I'm not worrying a lot about the reasons unless something ridiculously stupid is used. I'm more in this for the gameplay.

Yeah Wonder Woman, as well as Martian Manhunter, are almost right up there with Superman. Also, everyone wanting Lobo in the game should take account that during his popularity boom in the 90's Lobo was said to have been stronger than Superman. Same goes for Darkseid and Doomsday too.

I don't know if Lobo's stronger, but he certainly was the better fighter in their first Post-Crisis meeting.
