It's because Marvel's heroes seem to be different from eachother. DC tends to give everyone Super Strength and Speed.

Oh, please. Superman's powerset is widely used just about everywhere. Ms. Marvel, Sentry, Iron Man, Spider-Man...they've all got super strength and enhanced speed.

Super speed, invulnerability, a form of super speed and flight are amazingly common. Sometimes a character will get a twist or certain addition of powers to make them stand out, but there's a notable number that retains almost the entire the powerset, like Gladiator, Hyperion, Captain Marvel and so on.
Plus I think which publisher's superior is subjective. better in what? Both have their high and low points, and neither one can be dumbed down into simplistic stereotypes if someone honestly reads enough of either one. Hell, add other companies to that list, like Vertigo(partly DC), Image and Top Cow.

Keep trying buddy, Raiden got the power he relinquished after MK4 and he relinquished it in the events of MK5(DA) so...he never got to use this power and it is long gone. Remember the Dragon King was REVIVED from his death at the hands of Shao Kahn. We KNOW Shao Kahn killed Onaga in the past. Read Kahns Bio and Ending in Deception. Raiden cannot switch between God and Elder. He is a simple god now. Hell, he always was. Onaga's MKA Bio also states that Shujinko defeated him, we don't fully know if it is canon, but that says it is possible for him to be defeated by Shujinko at the least. What do you know about Raiden? He was a God in MK1-4 and Liu Kang prevailed, not him. His effort got him "promoted" to Elder God at the end of MK4. In MK5 he relinquished this Elder God Status in order to fight because his "Champion" died. He lost. He killed himself and Onaga survived his "Full-Power" explosion holding the Amulet, only to have Onaga defeated anyway. Raiden then became corrupt and then used his Champion's body to protect him as a bodyguard because he knew Liu could do it.

back on track on the Aquaman thing.
if you asked most people on the street what they thought about Aquaman and his powers, I think most people would say his ability to breathe underwater and to talk to sea creatures. a real DC fan would know that there is more to it than that, however i dont think this game is trying to cater to the hardcore DC fans so much as they are going for the characters that the regular shmuck would recognize, know, and care about.
I didnt know of aquamans fancy powers till you said them, and I know if somebody had said aquaman was gonna be in the game, i would of said you were batshit crazy.

lol...thank you. I think Aquaman is pretty iconic, I know almost nobody knows of Aquaman's real abilities, but it's about time they learn. Even when I didn't like Aquaman I did hope he was in it. Honestly, when I think DC, as much cooler as Starfire or Lobo are, I do think of Aquaman first. My first obvious' would be Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman...but Aquaman is definitely next. I think of him even before the Green Lantern. I do think he'll make it, but I won't know till I see. If those DC writer's do work there, they'll definitely know what to do with him.

This is what happened the last time "Aquaman" and "fighting game" met. THe Snes version wasn't as terrible, though...
In the end, Aquaman is still a more able fighter than your average human. But...if he isn't in it, you won't see ME in tears.
