New Interview (Crispy Gamer)

A link to an interview, things of interest said here:
1. Mentions fighting arenas that are actual mergers of two arenas from both universes, like a combination of Shang Tsungs island and something from DC.
2. Though nothing has been decided yet, he is leaning for this game to be a "what if..." situation or storyline.
3. His intention is to have multiple franchises running side-by-side, the VS. and the MK games to be released together.
4. He fully intends to make the next MK an M-Rated game thats just MK.
5. Boon clarifies how this game came to be, saying this game was not his original intention, but his desire to make a crossover outweighed any drawbacks this game presented.
6. There most likely will not be console exclusive characters, a la Soulcalibur IV.
7. the story mode will have the player controlling different characters from your chosen universe as you progress through the story.
Again, it is a lot of the same information just re-said, but there is some new information in here. The story mode was explained a little more. His intentions of the next MK is clearly stated, exclusive characters, and the online multiplayer was discussed (but I didn't really understand that part, I don't remember him discussing multiplayer before this games announcement).

there it is folks, it probably won't be for the wii looks like iceberg was right.....he was also right in saying that this game is pretty much a test game (i said it to) because boon clearly states that if this game does huge then the next MK game will be strictly Mk only!!!

Thanks to this, I understand why Fatalities are removed. Ed Boon would find it "disturbing" for DC characters to be killed and perform fatals.

EDIT: i find this interesting: Maybe the Mortal Kombat characters will have different rules when they're fighting each other -- we're still toying with all these variables.

Crispy Gamer: You're not talking about the modes of the game now, but in the last couple games you've had a puzzle game in there, you've had a kart game. Are you looking to throw those things like that into the game this time around, or are you just focusing on the fighting?
Boon: No, because we did it and it started to become expected, like we would see people on the forums saying, "Oh, I wonder what kind of mini-games there are going to be." Because of that we're not doing it. Instead of that we're kind of just focusing in on the fighting and the new modes. We have this whole reinvention -- there's a ton of balancing and stuff to do. And then our story mode is from two perspectives -- there are kind of two story modes in the game when you think about it. You play from the DC side and see what the characters experience, and it's the invasion of the Mortal Kombat guys. When you play from the Mortal Kombat side, you see it from the experience of Scorpion -- it's the invasion of the DC characters. So you're kind of telling the same story from the different perspectives as they see their realms merging.
EDIT: i find this interesting: Maybe the Mortal Kombat characters will have different rules when they're fighting each other -- we're still toying with all these variables.

I read that part yes, but it still doesn't ease my fears that this crossover is a bad idea which won't go over very well when this game comes out. Once again, keep in mind that this is my opinion and with several months to go until this game comes out, there's honestly no way to know for sure. I saw one of my other favorite franchises die last year due to bad ideas and self-inflicted wounds, and because of the fact that I see too many similarities between that dead franchise and MK, I'm afraid that the same thing could happen. I sincerely hope that I'm wrong though.

There's still too much that could go wrong even if they make a positive variable in regards to that, because this is still a crossover of two excellent franchises that don't belong together in the same game. Not trying to beat a dead horse here, just stating my take on this.
