One of the portals to outworld oppened on DC world (some kind of paralel universe of earth, following the multiverse theory by Einstein). Luthor happened to see the pontential on the portal, and desided to take a step further than controling the world, but control the realms. By sending hes subordinates he finds an old ancient weapon that was forgoten on Outworld, an artifact created by the gods to protect the realms from destruction on the times that Onaga ruled Outworld, but the hero that item was created for was brutally murdered by the Dragon King. That item would had given god-like powers to its bearer, and now all that power belongs to Lex Luthor. By using it he finish joins DC Universe realm with Earth realm, creating a world he could rule and defy the powers of he´s new enemie, Shao Khan. By sensing that something was not right, Raiden talks to the heroes of DC universe, to face the new threat that will destroy Earthream or will slave all the realms to only one man. The gongs of destiny are sounding, and a new Mortal Kombat Tournament is about to begin, only that this time there is a human threatening the realms... Lex Luthor.

But come on you really see this game has actuly being cannon. Even thoiugh Boon said they haven't decide yet it dosen''t take a genious to relise this is just a side game like Mythologies, Special forces, and Shaolin Monks is, It's likly a test run so midway can get the feel of the PS3 and X-box 360 to like Tekken Tag was a test for Namco on the PS2.
