Even though I haven't played UMK3, I would still say UMK3. Cause it has extra characters that are much better than MK3's. And I hear it is the best 2D MK you can get. Was that ever released for PS1?

I don't see why UMK3 wouldn't be better than MK3...It has the same great fighting system with more characters (minus Sheeva depending on which version you own).
It also has more game modes and arenas.
Overall, however, MKT is the best 2D game.

I liked UMK3 for the rich array of colors of the characters/backgrounds. However, in terms of gameplay, I liked MK3 slightly better, and it didn't have as much aforementioned sensory overload.

Okay, Midway, I suppose I can live with having an MK/DC crossover.
But you'd better include the Red & Black 'Mac Attack if it's to have even a shred of respectability.

Definately UMK3. MK3 was good, but it needed the large number of changes made in UMK3 to make it great.
MKT for PSX/PC was cool, and could have been a great game. The greatest hits/final edition of MKT did a good job of reproducing the gameplay of UMk3 Rev 1.2. Unfortunately they included intentionally unbalanced characters which basically ruin the game. The bosses, Noob and Rain make the game a joke sad to say.
And MKT for N64 is just a tragic mess. As are the SNES, Genesis and Saturn versions of UMK3. Luckily they eventually came around and gave us the 360 and DS versions which are both quite good.

UMK3. Oh and dreemernj, MK Trilogy was also released for the Sega Saturn and it was the same version as the Sony PS1 and PC.
