Since there's so many of them to begin with, if there were just the ninjas to choose from and no one else, would people play it? (Not canon, of course)

I think it could be successful. If they did the whole how they got there look from then to now story it would be cool too. Personally I'd like to see a series of games that has to do with each individual character.

Seeing as how most of the Mortal Kombat fan base's community's favourite character is one of the ninjas, obviously this game would be successful in one way or another. Seeing as how Shao Kahn is not a ninja, and therefore would not be included, I would not buy the game and/or support it.

red ninja vs. the yellow ninja vs. the purple ninja!
with new characters like the brown ninja and the grayish blueish black ninja!
...the game won't survive the game executives .

A ninja based MK game would be boring and repeative....Not much variety....

It's not like MK had much variety in the first place. There are lots of characters in MK, but when there are universal attacks that overshadow the few subtle differences they do have, that is what makes the game boring.
If the ninjas were taken straight from UMK3 where they all looked the same due to hardware limitations, this would be valid. But they were redesigned for the 3D games so they'd look more unique from each other. All it would take from there is to change the movesets for some ninjas so no one plays like another (down to their normal moves even), and the game could be worth something.

I've been saying this needs to happen for some time now. Not because I want to play it, but because that's what so many MK fans want. They don't want anything new or original. They just want to see as many variations of that costume and in different colors with different powers as possible. I wish Midway WOULD make this game to keep those people busy while the rest of us discuss real mortal kombat.

I sense a hint of sarcasm. There are only so many ninja characters because they were the easiest to palette swap without changing anything drastic, imagine a Liu Kang with blue skin or yellow pants. Thats why the ninjas were the ones with a color change.

uhh he said before that if midway listen to the fans the next game would been all ninjas so he really think midway should make a SUgame for the other fans and continue working with the next real mk.

I'm sure it would sell, but I don't see it being very enjoyable. A lot of favorite characters have shifted away from the 'ninja' over the course of the MK games.
