Bad connections to the internet, ISP having problems, and of course, there are people who are still stuck with 'dial up' service and once that phone rings, you have to reconnect and start all over again.

not everyone plays the game while on the computer
collecting
there are plenty of reasons
I will pretty much only use the guide for fatalities and if I get stuck in konquest or something I will use it for help

I already posted this, but...
using a guide in a game is not cheating, simply reducing the level of challenge of the game. But a game should be played with a guide the SECOND time you play it, to discover secrets and bonuses. A recent example could be the frogs in Metal Gear Solid 3, which are quite impossible to find alone the first time you play the game.
But Mortal Kombat is different: it was meant to be played with a guide since MK1 (unlocking reptile, for example, or Smoke/Jade/NS in MK2). The fatalities have never been written in a manual (exeption made for MK4).
With Armageddon I will do as I did with Deception: I will end Konquest mode normally and than (if the Vault requires special keys like the Kript did) I will search for them with the help of the guide
