Its only a possibility that they are, Kang is obviously to
be the true Hero, the story of him follows the same concept through
the movie.

Shaolin Monks changed nothing. It isn't canon.
Also, remember that this Kung Lao is the second person with that name. Lui Kang is the descendant of that Kung Lao, not the one living today (not that that would be possible anyway).

he means the great kung lao (who defeated shang tsung) it will be shown on one of liu kang or kung laos endings on mk2. ill get a link to the thing

Mavado spied into BD and looked like a member of BD before MK3??? I don't think so. Probably the traitor was the one that informed RD of BD's location in Outworld.
