I always set it to the easiest possible difficulty. That is where I generally stay too.

I never play on the easiest difficulty on anything. It's either the middle one, or the hardest one. If it's a completely new game, I'll start off with 'Normal' difficulty. If it's a game I've played before or one I think I can handle, then hello hard mode.
You are talking about all games in general and not a specific one, right?

From medium to hardest. Some games are too easy when set on easy mode (I know that's the idea), but some easy settings should have a small amount of a challange just to get them people who shake in their boots when it comes to games to grow more confident and raise that difficulty up to medium and then beyond.
Whenever I play Chess Kombat (MKDeception) I put that on Max difficulty, any of the Arcade mode's, Medium to just hard. Puzzle Kombat (MKDeception) Medium)
Game like the classic Doom games, I have to play that on Ultra Violence, which is the last but one setting, Nightmare is the highest, but that is just stupid and completely unfair, monsters deliever twice the amount of damage and they respawn (come back to life).
Ultra Violence is the best setting to play the old cool Doom games with, anything below it, even medium is just all too easy, I hate that, gotta have some challange in your games, otherwise, what's the point?

I totally agree. Ultra Violence is the best setting for Doom. Hurt Me Plenty is too easy, and honestly Nightmare is just too hard for my taste. Gotta hate the Pain Elementals..

i always start a new game on medium if ive never played it before and then go onto hard as i like a to perfect my skills

Damn right, even worse is when you kill one, three Lost Souls appear, and I hate them more than the mothers that spawn them.
I still love playing Doom. I managed to get an updater for Doom from a PC magazine. It completely turns Doom into a full 3D game, with polygons using the computer program Java. Everything is updated, the monters, the maps, the items, the lighting, furniture, the lot.
God bless the dedicated fans who created this update, they truly did a superb job of it. It all looks stunning. Obviously nothing compared to Doom3's awesomeness, but think Quake 2's engine and you're on the right tracks.

Practice makes Perfection...
Hence, my gaming rules are
1) Start on the easiest setting.
2) Get used to the whole gameplay playing on medium difficulty also.
3) Move on (and stick) to the hardest possible difficulty setting.

Oh believe me, you would get use to it. I liked the old graphics to, but the updated graphics are just superb.

i always play on the hardest diffuculty setting.. all the time..its the best way to prove my self.. anyways this might not mean anything to you guys but i got 3334 on my umkds game..its sweet..plus got 94% on dragonforce and idk...good luck guys...

I used to play on the easiest, But most of the time now, i play medium, sometimes hard(like in bioshock or god of war, games i'm really familiar with)
