Remember soaring through the skies on the back of fire breathing intellegent dragon? Remember the smoother than normal dialogue and good writing? Controlable, cinematic, arial battles with epic bosses. Plenty of good sized maps with plenty of enemies dotted around. Remember killing your first giant troll from the back of your dragon after facing a pair in the caves on foot? Oh the satisfaction! Speaking of the caves, the fighting system was near perfect. Lock on, send an arrow, ready a spell, pull out your sword (which by the way had more than the simple hack and slash maneuvers) stab and spell and stab. Enemies would react and stumble when hit. They weren't pushovers, they required timing. The spell system was fun to learn and use. Think of the scale and detail todays game engines could bring. Refine the same controls and idea. Sprinkle side-quests and fun hidden areas to discover, face-lift the scenery. Might be room left for more map area. Hire some good writers. Sure there are other dragon games, but who cares? Truth to tell, none put it all together as well as Drakan. Whats that newest one? Ha! I bought it and still had to go check the name. Uses only the axis controls. Doesn't give you a choice. And let me tell you, they are clumsy. And the battles were so confusing I couldn't stay interested... but this isn't the place to rag on that game, I was dreaming of days of good, fun, balanced games. Dragons are not dead my friends. But we need to create memorable ones if they are not to die out.

I've heard of Drakan, but I've never played it.
Didn't know Midway made that.

This is not to be confused with the SNES game Drakkhen which was an RPG released by Kemco (now defunct)

I've never heard of Kemco, or Drakkhen. But I knew what game he was reffering to. It looks nice. Was it ever released for the PS2?

I'm looking to buy it. Looks cool, and it's a Surreal game so it has to be great.

I remember Drakan and I really enjoyed that game. The dragon flight was really well done and overall the game was pretty fun and relatively bug/glitch free. Unlike something like Blacksite: Area 51 which looks like it would be fun to play, but I fid it unplayable currently due to the annoying sound problems with character voices and even worse, the horrible blur motion when you turn or strafe move or evn zoom in. Really, they should do a sequel to Drakan, that would be great (as long as they release a polished, "finished" product).
