Yes but Unreal Championship is Unreal Tournament. It is simply PS2's version of it, dunno why they couldn't just give it the same name,but all in all, it is the same game.
But you are right with different time period, I think Midway joined the Unreal series with UC, so was able to put Raiden in. I can't see why some characters can't make an appearance in UT3, maybe as a downloadable patch perhaps.

There is something called modding wich is very popular these days, Unreal is one of those games wich will be modded and may be modded by fans of MK and UT

well it was for ut2004 and uc but in uc2 they threw in a storyline they didn't make a ut2005 or 2006 about Anubis and uc2 had the melee function which raiden implemented in to the game to bad it cut out most of the weapons and force peoople to play certain characters and the learning curve on blocking was piss hard. also check wikipedia on recurring unreal tournaments.

Ah! I see now. I've never played Unreal Championship 1 or 2 so I never had a clue. I knew one of them was baised on UT04, wasn't sure which one though.
