What I think is great is that UMK DS revisited UMK3, one of the high points of the whole series, and it did it justice. However, hasn't it been a while since we've visited Mortal Kombat 4? And doesn't it have just the right level of graphics to be successfully ported to the DS? Hell, you could probably throw in Chess Kombat or Go-Kart Kombat or whatever it was called, like UMK DS did with Tetris Kombat.

Of course, use Mortal Kombat Gold because it has the extra characters and whatnot. But it seems like a fairly simple project. Just a series of porting things to the DS.

Is that too much to ask? MK needs to take advantage of the portable world beyond "MK Unchained". It can do even better than UMK DS was. The DS has a lot of potential. They could even allow the Chess Kombat to use the DS's stylus. I remember that in MK4 and MK Gold, the fatalities were quite difficult. Perhaps you can find a way to use the stylus there as well?

I think the level of technology for MK4 would not be suitable for the ds. It would be better on the PSP, I think. Look at MKD/U that was ported to the psp in its entirety. So MK4/G should be no trouble at all to put on the PSP.

Im currently hoping for MKtrilogy to be ported to a PSP like Midway arcade treasures. And the trilogy used would have to be the one featuring all the characters and bosses. And having both Khameleon and Chameleon in it.

I respectfully disagree. MK4 was for the PS1 and N64. The PS1, as you recall, was 32 bits. The DS runs 64 bit games such as Mario 64 DS and Metroid Prime: Hunters without much trouble at all. Mario was a launch title, too. So much can be done with the DS but no one tries to push the limits. MK4 would be perfect for the DS.

It seems likely that you own a PSP and perhaps not a DS, so you don't really realize this. I admit, I too have a bit of a bias, but I definitely respect the way the PSP handled Unchained, among other great titles.

Have you seen the GBA version of Deadly Alliance? It's not bad, actually, and if that can be done with an extremely weak 16 bit system, imagine what can be done with an advanced 64 bit system, running a 32 bit game.

MK4 for N64 looked decent. So the game would probably look decent on the DS as well. Not as good as the arcade, but still pretty good. And I've heard N64 MK4 was a good version in terms of gameplay as well.

MK4 for PSX had heinous graphics, as did the PC version because it was just a direct port ofthe PSX version.

MKG looked pretty good, it had a high polygon count but everything looked too shiny for me. The DS wouldn't be able to do that level of graphics anyway, and, besides that, all the characters they added in MKG were added in terribly.

Overall, I think MK4 for DS could look very good and could be a lot of fun. It's a bit shallow but balanced enough to prevent any of the characters from being heavily abused.

Man I love this thread.

Yes the PSX version of MK4 was crap, bad graphics and tons of loading time. N64 version had great gameplay, good graphics and no loading. Dreamcast MK Gold version had better graphics than the arcade game and everything played true to the arcade except the new characters that seems a little out of place...but really not that bad. If you dont like those new characters play without them, and you get a better graphics MK4. Also no loading time...which was amazing.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy...Was crap on PSX, bad graphics and tons of loading time. The N64 version had good graphics and no load time...but missed some characters, but the fatalitys where all there unlike the PSX and PC version. PC version had all the characters, good graphics and played fast with no loading time.

The DS could handed MK4 but not like the arcade or the Sega Dreamcast MK Gold version...It would be just like the N64 version...which was good, and with DS having a small screen im sure it would even look better than N64 Version on your TV was. So yea they should release it. I think they should also release MK4 for the PSP...Maybe it could be as good as the Arcade Version was...But i doubt as good as the Dreamcast MK Gold Version.

Ive been on the official Playsation 3 board for awhile now posting about Playstation Network (PSN) to add another Mortal Kombat game in there Online store. I got MK2 the day it was released and play it online almost every other night still. Its been well over a year now. April 2007 was when it was released. Me and thousands of other people want another MK Klassic for the PS3 online store but it still hasn't happened yet. I think we need to make more and bigger posts about it so they will notice and release another one. Of course it better be online playable like MK2 is.

Xbox360 got UMK3 while PS3 Online got MK2...I think it would be very easy and fair if now Xbox360 got MK2 and PS3 got UMK3. That should have already happened.

I cant wait for another MK on PSN. All of them are good, but If I could pick they would be in this order.

Mortal Kombat Gold (Dreamcast Version)

Mortal Kombat 4 (Arcade Revision 4...only one exists and its at Midway..its the same as Revision 3 arcade but a few more bugs fixed and features Goro)

Mortal Kombat 4 (Arcade Revision 3...this would be more likely what we would get)

Mortal Kombat 4 (PC Version..Had the best graphics for home systems besides MK Gold)

Mortal Kombat Trilogy (PC Version..which is the best Version for graphics and load times)

Mortal Kombat Trilogy (N64 version which had several different features including an all in one Sub-Zero and extra fatalitys, also no load times)

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (Arcade Version Wavenet....which was only released in a couple places in Chicago...which is the same as Version 1.2 but Noob is playable and some bugs fixed)

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (Arcade Version 1.2)

Mortal Kombat 1 (the latest version that was made...but would be kool for a hacked updated version where Reptile, Shang Tsung and Goro where playable...Mainly Reptile though, could you imagine having both sub-zero and scorpion moves and both of there fatalitys, would make the game have huge replyable factor again.

I would also like to play "The Grid" on PSN online...game never made it to a home console and was really fun, 3rd person shooter with scorpion, sub-zero and noob. Man I miss it.

PSX MKT load time wasn't too bad. You could turn off the buy in screen, set select screen to fast and turn off the versus screen. Load times cut down hugely. And overall the graphics are much better than MKT for N64. N64 had much brighter colors and its low res graphics were blown up a little larger than PSX had but the better colors, lack of cut frames and overall better quality sprites made PSX a lot better.

Maybe if N64 wasn't so limited in storage space they wouldn't have had to cut the graphic and soudn quality and they could have had those 7 missing characters.
