This is by far the worst decision they could have possibly taken.
I understand DC is a big-name company, and so is WB... but that doesn't mean that it will mesh well with MK.
There is not a single person alive who can say they've ever played a decent game involving the DC universe.
Midway had us all thinking that they were starting a new MK franchise from scratch, not this crap. MK-DC should not be a franchise, it should be a mere side project to make way for the actual MK game, kinda how Shaolin Monks was to Armageddon.
They are imitating the competition, that's all. Some years ago, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat were head to head... Somewhere down the line MK began to lose its fans (i'd say right after MK:Gold), yet Street Fighter reinvented itself by bringing in Marvel Comics characters. So now, Midway wants to imitate Capcom, by bringing Marvel's competition into the MK universe. Lame. Whatever happened to being a leader? Whatever happened to that creative mind that came up with the idea of a fatality? I'll tell you what happened to it: It became lazy.
Hear me when I say this: Warner Brothers and DC, are both VERY aware of the fact that MK is a promising franchise. But they are also aware of the fact that the DC universe will never have a great game. But, since they can't really lose in this deal, they went ahead with it.
All that's going to happen is, DC will finally have an "OK" game, and Mortal Kombat is gonna have a second "OK" game, instead of the beast we've all been expecting it to be. So Midway will lose money, DC will gain money. In the long run this is going to hurt Midway. Specifically Boon.
I guess MK wasn't meant to last forever. They absolutely messed it up in Armageddon by stripping characters of their individuality with removing the ORIGINAL fatalities for each character. Till this day, the best MK games are MK Deception, MK2, and MK Trilogy. Armageddon could have been great, but they totally rushed it.
And this here, horrible business decision, has forced me to crown MK Deception the last good MK game.
I'm not sure how they convinced them to go along with this, but trust me, right now Midway is slowly bending over in front of the Time-Warner Conglomerate. And trust me: this IS GOING TO HURT.
Thank you to anyone and everyone who actually cared enough to read this whole thing. I needed to vent.

Not to mention DC is crap compared to Marvel. I'll tell you the ending of MK:DC right now: Superman Wins!
Ever since the cancellation of the bios, I have lost faith in Midway...now this...
They're damn money grubbers. They're marketing this game so younger people can play it. They aren't at all concerned with the dedicated fans, they just want their cash. Well, they aint getting mine!

Well maybe with Warner's deep pockets we'll get a superb MK movie. Nice little trade off.

I am a Mortal Kombat fan and a DC Comics fan. And I have to say that this is the biggest letdown in the history of letdowns. I seriously want to like go to a corner and cry or better yet just jump off my roof so physical pain would end the inner turmoil. This is a REALLY bad idea.
I want to gouge my eyes out and forget I ever saw the Sub-Zero VS Batman render.
And it "looks" like they're using an Unreal graphics engine yet keeping Armageddon's fighting engine. Yep. This is going to suck.
This is so sad. Midway when you go backrupt, please sell the right of Mortal Kombat to Team Ninja so that they can at least make something THAT PEOPLE WON'T LOOK AT BE LIKE "Oh I thought it was a April Fool's Day Joke".
Guess the joke's on us.

Excellent post, Oktavian. This whole mess makes me glad I quit playing the games a long time ago.
Midway is perfectly willing to sell out and meander to the tween crowd solely so they can climb out of their financial hole. Wonderful.
Hopefully if more than enough fans raise their voice, Boon and Co. will get their heads out of their rears and take notice. After all, they listened when fans bitched and moaned about Scorpion being left out of MK3.

And even if it did is it really worth sacrificing the MK legacy over?. I don't think so.

Exactly, i tried explaining it in my long post, but this summed it up in a nutshell. Almost poetic in its simplicity.

Well said on your first post, Oktavian. I say the staff at Midway got lazy, lost their creativity, and imagination along the way and just rushed and slapped something together, hoping to make us fans happy. And I like what JandS posted.

Well I think that MK franchise loose money so they make this move ... because other Midway games are good but MK is slowy dying since Mk4 ( before that Mk was own by Acclaim ) then Tekken , Virtual Fighter , Soul Edge/Calibur came and Mk gameplay became really outdated, unable to compete and not taken seriously. Only fan of Mk play Mk game no one else play it. I think if someone want to play a fighting game they will choose Tekken , VF , SF or SC over Mk because of the quality , best gameplay and best review.
so MKvsDC may be the last hope to save Mk
