Kenshi was "the sword saint". He use to travel, dueling people to prove he was the best. Old Shang Tsung, calling himself "Song", tricked Kenshi into searching for a sword that contained the spirits of his Kenshi's ancestors, so that Tsung could consume them when they were released. When the souls were released they blinded Kenshi who wad looked into oblivion.
Not quite word for word, but that's what happened to Kenshi.
After posting, I realized I had forgotten I was replying to someone. To put it short, Kenshi is not a samurai, however this character is based on Kensei, who was indeed a samurai many centuries ago. The name Kensei is Japanese for Sword Saint. Methinks I know Mortal Kombat well...

He's a swordsman, not a samurai. He's actually closer to being a Ninja than a Samurai.
And yes, I mean a hardcore Samurai. Like Takeshi from Mace. And as to what they would be doing i MK... Probably whoopin' ass.

i kinda have to laugh when i see so many people who actually complain that they are making new characters ive even seen more than a few say t is a bad idea and like that i dont really understand since the team made all the other characters so why not just think of it this way they made great characters before and they will do it again

I don;t know why people keep talking about the un-important side characters. They were never playable then and they won;t be now. Mokap has a greater chance of coming back than those guys showing up.
