By the way Killer Instinc was a great game but they screw up big time with the second game , so much that KI doesn't exist anymore so I don't think it would be a great idea to mix Mk with a dead game.
Mortal Kombat should stay Mortal Kombat , no mixing.

does midway own the rights to KILLER INSTINCT? if not, I wish they did! I'd love a new K.I game done by the M.K guys. or even do a 2.5d cross over like street fighter vs marvel. if they where willing to make mk4, they should be willing to try this alley out. i think it would do a lot better.

Out of all the crossover ideas, that's one of the more realistic ones. Stuff like crossing over with DC or Primal Rage is far too farfetched. Still, it probably would only happen on one console if it was ever made as Batzarro already stated.

I don't want a crossover game period, unless it's a side project that doesn't get involved with the offical MK games (like Shaolin Monks).
If I had to put up with a crossover, I'd be less upset if it were with KI than DC Comics...
I would be even happier if they brought KI back from the dead and re-did everything for the game to bring it back to compete with SF and MK.

The copyrights for killer instinct are still in Nintendo's name. rare has been teasing but they would really need Nintendo's OK to do anything about it.

I dont think they would bother with a versus against another fighting game. What's the point? If it's Tekken, SF or even SC it'll just be characters from those games redone to have lower quality gameplay.
Look at the next Soul Caliber. It'll have Yoda or Vader depending on the system. That limited example of versus is an attempt to pull in new people to the series that aren't necessarily familiar with fighters, which is good for SC since SC has been going downhill for a while and the next SC will probably have miserable gameplay.
MK has become notorious for terrible gameplay, not having a really decent gameplay system since UMK3. So they're not going to win over a crowd and sell more units from roping in characters from a series that is more focused on good gameplay. They'll rope in new players by tapping into a group of characters that aren't tied to fighting games already.
So, probably DC.

Uh...Rare has stated multiple times that they own Killer Instinct. If Nintendo owned any of it, they would have acted as soon as those pictures apeared in COnker and Grabbed By the Ghoulies. It's as if the'd had a picture of DOnkey Kong in Perfect Dark. Scanning...
Purely out of contractual obligation, no, we're not working on KI3, no, we don't have a secret team in the basement finishing off JFG2, no, we're not brainstorming an exciting sequel to It's Mr. Pants and traditionally we're not big players in the RPG market either. Until we're ready to unveil some of the games beyond the new Banjo that we are working on, why not go back and sample some prime Rare goodness from the archives such as NES classics Time Lord or Super Glove Ball? posted:
