Pick 7 characters who you would like to return. Also, if a certain character returns (it doesn't have to be on your list), how would you alter them?
10 characters was too much, 5 was not enough, but 7 is lucky!

Assuming that MK8 takes place at least 40+ years in the future...
1. Taven (well, dur!  ). I'd make him into the Elder God (Raiden's old position) as per the sparse MKA storyline. As far as playability, make him a hidden kharacter. Remember the fake MK8 trailer that showed the Shang Tsung/Raiden crossover dude? I'd make Taven look sorta like that.
2. Scorpion. My storyline would be that Scorpion's soul was finally laid to rest after Armageddon. Now, in MK8, (insert main bad guy's name here), he returns as the main protector of Earth, except Scorpion will be an anti-hero. Doesn't want to be disturbed, so he comes back to kick (insert boss name here) ass. (C'mon, wouldn't YOU like to finally have the humanized version of Scorpion?)
3. Mokap...
HA HA! Late April Fools  Oh damn, my nose. NOOOOOOOOO!
3.  Kung Lao. Say Goodbye to Shujinko and hello to Kung Lao. After Armageddon, he has revived the White Lotus Society and is its current leader. I would change his outfit to robes and also modify his hat. (Y'know, for an old dude, he can still do a mean hat slice  .)
4. ZEBRON! Once a proud warrior from the Central regions of Africa, he came into contact one day with an odd substance which has thus turned him into half man, half Zebra. Wanting to become human again, he enters this new MK tournament to battle (insert main bad guy's name here) and gain the antidote to his current condition. I would take Zebron out of that Zoot Suit and put him into the clothes of an African warrior.
5. Jackson Briggs Jr. Following the footsteps of his father, Jax Jr. enters Mortal Kombat 8 to kick (inset main bad dude's name here) ass and restore peace in the world. The difference is that A: He'll look similar to his father, maybe different hair, but the same special moves from MK2 B: No more metallic arms.
6. Nitara. Get rid of the eye-patch, unless she really needs it... seriously, for a darker MK, you need to keep one of the girls who'd keep it as such.
7. Reiko, er sorry, Emperor Reiko. 'Nuff sed.

1. Reiko - He was super awesome in MK4 and i did not think they could make him better, but they made me have nerdgasm with how they hooked him up in Armageddon. I am in LOVE with that character! The moves, the style, the stance, the appearance, the attitude, his position in Kahn's army, his origins, his motives, his EVERYTHING!!! I was just HIGHLY upset that MK:A did away with unique finishers, because I can think of hundreds of finishers for this dude!
2. Rain - Oh my GOD. This dude is the smoothest-looking "Ninja", and is actually one of the stronger ones. The cool part is, he's not REALLY a ninja, he's a bodyguard to the throne of Kitana's realm, on some Majestic status. His moves are BOSS, and his story hasn't really been delved into quite that deep yet. I'd love to have him return with some bad ass daggers for weapons instead of the storm sword.
3. Havik - His alternate costume should be his primary. You know, with the hood on. His alternate should be sorta the same but RIPPED and damaged. Not with that stupid helmet, with the same hood. Nothing else about him should change. Except for his finisher. Get more creative.
4. Scorpion - Midway might be sick of the NinjaFest that MK has become, but it just wouldn't be MK without Scorpion. I'd like to see him with his head on fire, but the fire kinda leaking off too. He should be able to shoot his arrow up and grab you by the feet from underneath and pull you through the screen. He should have that slicer fatality from MK 2 again, too. And give him back his teleport punch, enough with the kicking!
5. Shang Tsung - He just keeps getting younger and younger, doesn't he? I think in the next MK game, a young Shang Tsung should take the place of Liu Kang, in terms of roster character types, but the story should remain that he's shang tsung and just looks even younger. I also wouldn't mind his shapeshift returning.
6. Cyrax - Let's face it, Cyrax was only cool in MK3, before they tried to give him a personality. Take away that silly humanoid form, and let him be the heartless robot he should be. The one that will pre-calculate the outcome of every possible move before engaging in a fight with you! The type that won't hesitate to KILL HIMSELF just because he knows it would also KILL YOU!!
7. Ermac - This is probably one of the most original characters i've ever seen. He refers to himself as "we", and he has telekinesis, he can lift you! he can lift you up AND LIFT YOU! How cool is that?! His teleport was awesome too. I love the new outfit too.

If I could choose some characters to be altered I'd say:
All ninjas and Reptile and Smoke (which is a Ninja) have their classic ninja costumes except a few more details added (like Scorpion in MK:DA). Also bring back the young Sub-Zero, he's way too old (Someone said something about the medallion making him young again - I like that idea). Oh yeah. Sonya! Bring back her MK3 look, and her foot-strangler special move.
