Since Capcom went with the whole 2.5D approach (Which looks great in action BTW) which would you prefer MK8 be?
Fully 3D or 2.5D?
Myself, i'm torn between the two.

Definitely 3D !
Unlike most of other fighting games, Mortal Kombat proposes a whole universe altogether. That not only includes unique characters but unique arenas and environments too. An environment need to be fully interactive, maybe muti-tiered and even evolving too if you have to establish a whole myth about it. To characterize an environment fully you need to percieve it from differing angles and views... cameras. Looking at a courtyard from an arch or window and then moving to it all takes fully 3D approach. All that is not possible with a 2.5D approach.

3D. you can be a lot more original with character fighting styles and special moves. Not to mention the amazing interactive arenas.

why copy the look of the competition. MK always been different. the 2.5D looks good, but too cartoony for MK8, especially if it is gonna be grittier

If its anything like the old 3D crappy games that sorry but truthfully "Midway" has brought out... then no .. 2.5D will be my option... Now if they can introduce a new 3D game that is not slow in controls, and boring in genereal... then I am all ears..
ps.. AND YES. THE NEW STREET FIGHTER IS LOOKING PROMOSING..
