I agree with the Raiden as Boss Koncept but I'd rather see someone new with a Monster Sub-Boss. Motoro with 4 Legs wouldn't be bad.
It seems lyke most people always hate on the new Kharacters though.

the dragon seem to much like a fantasty story line...the 4 arm monster (goro, kintaro) has that Japanese monster figure! you see them statues with 4 arms which they worship or pray to in spiritual stuff... like example if the game was about rednecks, the monster for the RedNeck Kombat would be big foot! not a pegasus

personally i want Raiden to be the boss, to see the one god who has always defended earth fighting his own team of good guys would be pretty cool. And i don't think that Kahn will be the boss anymore, because they need a new main bad guy and he's been the main one for..practically the entire series

Rayden for boss? No way! He would be a great sub boss, no doubt about it. But for the first MK on PS3, a brand new boss would be the best thing.
The idea for a female was great. Little bosses are more fun than the giant ones. The idea was good in Deadly Alliance, but too pity that the bosses were already known before.
But logic of MK says that if we have a "little big boss", we must have a "huge sub boss".
I'd like to see Rayden and a huge character (Shao Kahn? Onaga? A new one?) for sub bosses and a sexy and mercyless woman for Boss.

The possibilities for boss characters being made from old characters are as follows:
Shao Kahn or Onaga: I doubt it, but it's possible.
Drahmin: His Mask has a life force residing in it.
Ashrah: Her sword also has a life force in it, and it could take on a living form.
Havik: If he win's Armageddon, he becomes Chaos Incarnate. I know the endings are never always canon, however, some are.
The One Being: Could take on a physical form.
Raiden: For reasons I stated in an earlier post.
Shinnok: He was a boss in the past, it's possible he could return as one in the future. This is highly unlikely though.
Reiko: His MK:A ending sounds cool enough. Endings are non-canon, I know, but it is still possible since the MK8 story is not yet known.

If MoKap defeated Blaze and destroyed everyone, then became a constellation, why can't he be the new boss? Seriously he could reign as an ensign goddling or something. MK has had weirder stuff
