I currently own every one of the 3 next-gen consoles AND a PC that could just about run any game or video, so your theory is way off. Anyway, I'm not planning on getting MK8 or any future MK games for the PC. But if there is a petition I can sign to help you PC users, I'll do it. Anything to help fellow gamers.
oni posted:The beauty of an MK sequel is that the team behind it is fully aware that "its a once-only" thing... it should be compact, flawless, and revolutionary all at once. Other fighting game makers take liberty with their games like Tekken or DOA series and the potential story behind them is vastly compromised. But, MK is a series that is much, much more scrutinized by its fans and critics alike. Even being a fighting-only game, each sequel is properly analyzed story-wise too. So, the team makes it very complete, distinct and unique. You can tell a major uniqueness in every single sequel! Bringing such a compactness, or should I say a software gauntlet, to an open-system like a PC ruins its such identity. No two players on a modern PC might have the same experience... PC specs being different. I remember that even when PC had blah blah blah more specs and graphical prowess than Dreamast... still MK4 for PC was the worst port that could ever be there, the gamma properties were rubbish and loads of special processes were altogether missing. Fog, lighting, water, particles... everything crap. And its not because the devs made that happen... it is clear that the special resolution and D3D effects are better in PC version but even with all that power, PC could do only that much... Same goes with other games of their times... Disney's Hercules had more processes running in Playstation 1 version than the oh-so-clear PC version. Loading and particles of the exact same game Heaart-of-Darkness were better in Playstation 1 version than the VooDoo enabled PC and so on. This is true today too... if you want a console equivalent PC today, its just too much expensive. And what is the guarantee that every brand would support the software? So, I think Midway would be wise to keep MK series on consoles alone. That standard they propose should be met and all fans should experience it equally! Besides, PS3 pretty much does everything a PC does, even including a web-browser... my word!
