In the famed issue of Game Informer, Boon says that this game is the plot capper for this era of MK, so they can start off fresh. But what does he mean by "fresh"? "Fresh", as in, starting anew as if the old era never happened, or "fresh", as in, the old era DID happen, but long ago?
They said that this will be the end of the Mortal Kombat universe so that they can start with "The slate wiped clean", but does "clean" mean, "free of the bearing of history"? A lot of things hint at this being the destruction of the MK universe entirely, so they can start on an entirely new story. All of MK's history, nonexistant. COMPLETE newness. Is this true?
We need answers! It was already bad enough that our favorites are dying, but now they never existed? This isn't fair!

Theyre not gonna completely erase the mortal kombat history. they cant make mk8 with a storyline with no connection at all to mk history, that seems absurd to me. If they did that they might as well change the name of the game.

What they want to do is make sure every character is accounted for, all their history and purpose and destiny is reveiled in MK7.
Then the characters that they want to continue on with will come back in MK8, those who didn't make it will be killed off in MK7.
The slate will be wiped clean so they don't have anything to explain or anything to do, the history will be set in stone and they can work on a completly fresh new future with whatever characters they introduce and bring back in MK8.
We will never be able to say "oh i wonder what happened to ...." because we will know what happened to him/her/it in MK7.
Hope this helps.

god i pray Sheeva, Rain, Stryker, Jade, Ermac, and a few others that wernt really used properly survive... because i think they all have potentail... and would be good in the future MK games.. i htink it would be pointless if Sheeva, Rain, Stryker, Fujin, Kai, and Sektor die in this game... just as they finally returned to the MK game... so i hope they survive some how.

Yep, this way MK will be a whole new universe!!!
Instead of sub-zero and scorpion itl be there offspring and a whole new batch of people will be introduced!!!
This is what separates Mk from other wanksta fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken, Soul Calibur, King of Fighters and any other piece of sh*t that claims its a fighting game.
Mk always evolves and will always triumph!!!
There on there way to Get Rich or Die Tryin and Mk will get rich while they die tryin!!!

The purpose of MK7 is to tie up all loose ends, as Pepsi said (and maybe someone else said it as well, I dun remember and I'm too lazy to check).
The aftermath of the game will be, in my opinion, one of two things:
1.) Vast majority of the characters are killed off, and they start over with mostly new characters and only the classics, and start over with a whole different time period.
2.)
There've been 3 major storyline so far:
The Tournament story arc (MK1-MKT)
The Sorcerer's story arc (MK4-MK:DA)
The Dragon King story arc (MK:DA-MK:D)
What they might do, and I'm hoping they'll do, is start a new story arc, with the original characters and new ones. They'll kill off the ones that they (the producers) don't want to work with anymore and people the fans don't like.
That is my speculation

Yeah, but they said the end of the Mortal Kombat UNIVERSE.
Did they mean that literally? I hope Pepsi is right.

Too bad that there's no Fight Nights coming up.
Then again, I doubt they'd be too busy singing bar songs with the staff at MortalKombatOnline to answer our questions.
Is it remake, or continuation? Remakes have occured before, right?
