this thread is for improvements on the fighting system itself.
1. throws - the throws in MKD were pretty basic.. a grab button and thats it. there should be a way to escape throws or even reverse throws. All other current fighting games have that.. and MK should have it too. air throws or air grabs should make a return too.
2. deathtraps - it was cool at first. but later on you just realize it just makes matches fast and stupid. who would want to lose because of a stupid lucky shot? however, i believe there are fans of this and what they should add is the ability to escape deathtraps via test your might. eventually a tired player may not be able to push buttons fast enough, so instant kills is still possible
3. counters - there is already a dedicated thread to this.. but basically what i had in mind is that everyone should have a universal parry similar to SF3 or SC. to give more balance.

I've said this before, because this type of thread has been done before, but I think Midway should implement some elements of the Tao Feng fighting system. The game itself, wasn't up to much, but was made by MK's co creator. In it you could actually break the other players arms and legs and they couldn't use them in the fight and would hold them in pain. Brilliant stuff.
