There a bunch of these thread in circulation right now; those ones where people announce that they're leaving for a few days or forever (only to come back in a few days >_>) and stuff. I'm not saying that we should get rid of them altogether, because it's kinda nice to know when people are going to be leaving for any period of time.
Also, there's no newbie board. I think there should be one so that new memebrs can introduce themselves.
Other boards have boards like this, so I think we should as well. If yuo think spam might be a problem, then you could probably do something like having posts there not affect post count, or having each thread autolock when they're posted
tl;dr, summary: I think there should be a new board where news intoduce themselves, and leaving members can announce it.

I would agree that it would be a good idea to have this kind of board...But, I think that it could possibly take attention away from Midway games at times. Midway might not want to put this board in for that reason.

I think this has been brought up before. Its a good idea. I think Sheyla might of requested it only to have it rejected by midway. Midway seems to not like any boards not related to midway, kind of like an advertisement.

My opinion on boards/posts not related to Midway is that when a new user visits the boards we want them to see people discussing games - the reason they came here in the first place. That way they can feel like they can jump in at any time and instantly relate as a fellow fan.
When you all start posting about other things/events/or even your personal problems it instantly begins segment users. If they have to hunt to find a topic related to this forum's purpose then they're less likely to participate or return. Remember, the purpose of a forum is to discuss and relay information of a particular theme or subject to a large group of people with similar interests. The theme of this board being Midway games. They're not meant to develop personal relationships or to simply chat. That's what IM's and AOL chat rooms are for.
As far as a board dedicated to welcome/leaving messages I ask you, in a place as fleeting as the internet, why would you even care? If people are there, they're there - if not, then so be it.

I don't think we should have the leaving threads. Those should be best left to PM's. We don't want new users showing up, and seeing a bunch of threads that roughly say "I'm leaving. These boards just bore me nowadays." Its discouraging and against progress.

Good idea Reptile, we should have these, although some people that leave usually come back in a short time. Some people come back in a few months, either way, they come back.
