Anybody successfully getting Stranglehold doing higher then 1024x768 with a CRT monitor? I can only go higher if I force it to use a driver for an LCD, and then I can only do 60hz. I have multiple machines that do this and forcing the resolution from the command line doesn't help.

Just curious if there is some CRT it does support that could do 1600x1200x100 or 2048x1536x75. Then I can try to use that driver with my monitor.

I've given up on Midway actually patching the game to fix the problem.

It's not the driver you use that determines what resolutions a CRT monitor can handle, it's the CRT hardware itself. If you force a resolution that your CRT cannot handle, you will end up with a flicking image and can even cause permanent damage to the monitor if you leave it for too long.

Quite often the only task of driver for a monitor is to tell your PC and video card the limitations of the monitor. Your video card driver and monitor driver are very separate. Just because your video card can handle a high resolution, doesn't mean that your monitor can.

You missed the point of my post altogether. I can run any other game at 2048x1536 well. This includes other UE3 games like Bioshock, Gears of War, Rainbow Six: Vegas and Medal of Honor: Airborne. But with Stranglehold I can not select any resolution higher then 1024x768. I can't even force a higher resolution. I can reproduce this on two different gaming machines with CRT monitors. When I use those same machines with LCDs, I'm able to select higher resolutions. If I force my CRT to use an LCD's driver I can select higher resolutions.

So, Stranglehold is getting it's list of available resolutions from the driver and it falls completely on it's face if that monitor driver is for a CRT.

Patch 1.1 did fix this problem. Thank you Midway!

Actually, it didn't completely fix the problem, but it's close enough. I still can't select 2048x1536 from inside the game, but I can now force that from the command line.
