First time poster here, I registered just because I felt this information needed to be put out there. Hopefully someone from Midway is reading this forum so I can get a straight answer on this, and hopefully I can get some feedback from other PS3 Stranglehold CE owners and see if they are getting this same issue.

The audio syncing in Hard Boiled is just all over the place. Sometimes the sound will appear as if it's in sync with the actions on the screen, and other times it sounds like it's about a half-second late. And just for reference, I'm listening to the film with the Cantonese track. It annoyed me so much that it lead me to rent the Dragon Dynasty DVD just to find out if it's just the PS3 version or if it's also present in the original film. As I suspected, it's just the PS3 version that has this issue. Also, as a minor note, the PS3 version of the movie is much brighter that the DVD release.

It's a shame too, the movie definitely is in high-def in the PS3 version and not just some upscaled DVD job like some people are thinking, and it doesn't have as much compression noise as the DVD version. But I waited two months from the 360 release and spent an extra 10 bucks on a shoddy version of the film where I see someone shoot a gun and hear the bang about a half-second later, and that's not right. While I appreciate that Midway spent the time to delay the game and get the quality of the PS3 version virtually on par with the 360 version, it appears that not much time was spent on giving Hard Boiled the same treatment.

Hopefully this can be fixed in a patch, and as a last resort possibly a disc exchange. I'd hate to give up the PS3 Collector's Edition, just because I like the idea of having the game and the high-def movie on the same disc, and the game is just pure fun. But if none of these things happen, I might just have to return this game as defective and get one of the other various game releases coming out this month.

This issue is very true!!
The sound is partly so much out of sync in the movie so mutch, that it is totally unwatchable for even a non HD entusiast.

I looked forward so much to this movie release that i bought a 50 inch Pioneer full HD plasma for aprox 9014 US dollars including the speaker and the AudioQuest cables here in Sweden that I am also gonna have ISF calibrated ( more expensive here:( )!
The print wasnt to hot either but I can take that much.. but the sound sync makes it impossible to watch.

You cant make a delay youreself through a CPU or Amp cause its different from sceene to sceene!

I bought the criterion dvd 9 years ago for the same price but it was alot better buy.

This is much worse then when Nintendo removed progressive scan mode from Pal version Gamecube games.

I have a solution.. Either they have to fix this with a patch or a reprint so we can return our defect versions... or..
If we really should make a nice re-synced audio version ourself.
We can use the audio from the DVD release and re-record it into a nice 1080p .MKV or .TS with H264 encoding and high bitrate, then start seeding a torrent with only the movie on it..

Boycott This version until it has been fixed, because if they earn money on it they may not fix it.

I really wanna sponsor Woo`s products, as long as there is some quality to it!

I have the same problem and it's absolutely appalling. Makes the movie almost unwatchable.

Is this a problem with the transfer, with the PS3 itself, or a combination of both?

So after a week or so of answering irrelevant questions, I got this response from Midway:

After discussing your issue with the other departments we found out that the remastered version we received did not
include a remastered audio track plus the original audio was only available in mono. Because the audio was not
remastered some of the audio will be out of synch with the action on the screen. We apologize for any inconvenience
this may have caused.

Regards,
Midway Tech/Customer Support

I love it, 'inconvenience'. So we sold you a deliberately defective product that's useless for the purpose you bought it for. Hope you don't find it inconvenient.
