Wont recognize discs after install - new problem

Ok, so I couldnt take the No Save data issue I was having so I reinstalled. Now, after I reinstalled the game whenever I click the desktop icon it says "No Disc Inserted - Please insert original Stanglhold DVD/CD". Tried both discs 1 and 2 and same issue. I couldnt save previosuly, but at least I could play.
BTW, runnigs 3.0 Ghz, P4 Intel Core 2 Duo with 3MB ram with an Nvidia 1950. Its not the system.

i'm pretty sure the problem is your RAM...
lol, typo, i know. 
Anyway i got the game working now, only after i installed Windows XP on another partition. Since it won't work on Vista, i took my chances on installing XP (with beta forceware 163.76). And now its working flawlessly.
Windows Vista Ultimate
Windows XP Pro (Stranglehold installation drive)
Pentium Core 2 Duo 6320 (1.86 GHz)
DDR RAM 2GB, 250 GB Hard Drive
NVidia GeForce 6600GT (128 MB)

So NOW, I finally tried an icon different than the one install placed on the desktop. One of the icons in the program folder launched it. Go ALL the way to the Casino level and had to go to bed. This morning, No Saved Game Data and all chapters locked even though I closed out after a checkpoint. So maddening.

No wonder Im having trouble!!!!! ATI, Nvidia, whatever ;^) Its an ATI Radeon X1950 series

I doubt that is the problem...As I'm having the same problem...The disk fails to spin up, no splash screen!!!
Only after I open and close the DVD door repeatedly, do I finally get the splash screen...The game never starts from the desk top ICON...-never-
My computer is brand new...Intel e6850, Asus p5n32, 4 gigs cosair, 8800 gtx Nvidia 163. drivers...
My guess is it proly needs a patch???
You guys got admit it is still an AWESOME game...The graphics are breath taking...I'm gonna hate the ending...I have played in MP???Not as good as single player
