there hasn't been ANY mention of the game coming out on the Wii.

considering what's in the game... i highly doubt it.

the Wii is a "glorified" Gamecube... and in either case (if you disagree with previous statement), it probably won't have the processing power to handle the "massive destruction" that is the main feature of the game... so, without it... well... it might as well be another game.

If Epic takes the time to get UE3 run on Wii, it would be a fun game on Wii for sure! I still want Psi-Ops for Wii.

It's not completely out of the realm of possibility. In fact, Emergent Technologies has already successfully ported its Gamebryo engine (Oblivion, Civ IV, Pirates!) to the Wii.

http://www.developmag.com/news/28448/Gamebryo-swings-onto-Wii

Additionally, it has been stated by a number of sources that the Wii hardware supports many of the higher end graphical features that the Xbox 360 and PS3 do, albeit at a maximum of 480p resolution. The critical difference is that these features need to be programmed specifically for the Wii's TEV (Texture Environment Unit). For developers, this means that common graphics standards like Shader Model 3.0 can't be used on their own. A rewrite for the Wii is necessary to exploit the strengths of the hardware. This is precisely what Emergent has done with Gamebryo.

Never. It is a CURRENT GEN game and Wii is a LAST GEN system.

If Epic decides to create a UE3 engine compatible with Wii it could happen. Never say never...

They should just make it for the PS2 then, while they are at it.

Contrary to popular opinion, the Wii has the potential to be on a technical level higher than the PS2. It's all in what the developers do with the technology. Many developers are content with porting PS2 games to the Wii because it's quick and easy, not because it's all the Wii can do on a technical level.

Even the original GameCube was a notch or two above what the PS2 was capable of. A good example of this is Resident Evil 4. When Capcom was under Nintendo exclusivity for the RE series, they were forced to become familiar with the intricacies of the platform and emphasize its strengths. The result was an absolutely beautiful game when it was released with visuals that still hold up pretty well today. The subsequent PS2 port was a somewhat watered down version that had several key graphical features either missing or emulated at a quality that was below the original GameCube release.

Even if the Wii is in fact "two GC's slapped together" as some critics have speculated, this should still be enough to significantly distance itself from the PS2 performance-wise. While this should provide enough power for a potential Wii version of Stranglehold, it'll be up to Midway to take the time exploting the strengths of the system to make it a reality.

This is a next gen title the Wii though fun (love mine to pieces) is not really a next gen console per se. It is after all only an Xbox(1st gen) with extra VideoRAM.

I believe I read somewhere that UE3 wont really function on the Wii as it lacks the Processing power to pull it off. However Given that Source was ported to Xbox(1st Gen) theres no hurt in Hoping.

RE4 looks like crap. Visuals are muddy, murky, and unclean.

Wii is a continuation of the GameCube...

NES -> SNES -> N64 -> GameCube -> Wii

Playstation/PSOme -> PS2/PSTwo -> PS3

Xbox -> Xbox360

*not counting handhelds

http://gonintendo.com/?p=12897

is a RUMOR of a "dumbed down" version of UE3... but if you search around some more... most places have articles that state that Mark Rein (of Epic) has no plans to port to Wii... so you'd have to rely on 3rd party to license and convert it.

I'm aware that the Wii is a continuation of Nintendo's console line... I was talking in terms of The Wii is just an Xbox with a little more Vram.
