I got the latest beta, the one that came out for Crysis Beta 163.67 driver version... This time I got the actual Render error window and then it goes to black screen and just hangs there... ohwell, the demo's only been out for a day, hopefully they can release a patch fix for it

well seems that memory could be a problem, because 2 Gigs is Minimum requirement :
so says the Midway support page

I have:
AMD X2 3800+
1 GB ram
8800Ultra

and the game crashes all other games work just fine have
up to date bios, nforce drivers and so on. Put in an order
for more ram, but the store is closed tomorrow (it's goddamn
Sunday). And then i'll see if adding more Ram works.

Hello flag !
my system:
Intel core 2 duo E6750
Geforce 8800 GTS 640
2GB RAM
Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard

I had the same problem: "rendering thread exception"
when i started the game on WIN XP.
But then i installed the game on Vista and it ran smoothly! The 2GB RAM are not the problem.
cool

That is not true. People that have 2GB Ram also reported the crash issue. The reports about rendering errors probably mean its something connected to graphics. This may be another Bioshock-style thing (new drivers will be made probably).

haha , its funny because bioshock and crysis both had drivers updated the moment they came out...stranglehold dont, mmmm
nvidia is telling us something here, something like stranglehold is not that important... i think maybe the demo delay time and now the release with issues its because nvidia wouldnt spend time tweaking the drivers for this game when crysis is released at the same time , and with a demo coming soon...
if that were true , then we cant expect a new driver for this game till after the crysis demo is released...

I dont think it is an nvidia driver prob.
I am running fine on the 162.18 drivers.

However, it could be an ati driver issue, although it seems to be affecting both camps, so it probably isnt a vid driver issue.

This guy speaks the truth, i also had the same problem with the black screen running my 1600pro radeon with 1gb, once i updated my catalyst drivers to 7.9 and the latest DirectX it was fine.

I see a lot of people with ATi cards having the same issue, so I'm not convinced its a problem with the nVidia drivers. I wouldn't be suprised if it was a driver issue, but I don't think this can be blamed on nVidia. If anything, it is something in the game itself that requires a driver update. Only problem is, there doesn't seem to be a stable working driver for nVidia that this game works with.

Got to try the game on another system with 1Gig RAM and Single core cpu. So the crashes are game related weird part is that Window is unable to log the crash (system freezes totally).
