Because of our pressure?

They set their own release dates. Not us. They made the promises. Not us.

And if they can't finish a demo properly less than week before a claimed release date, what can we expect from the full game? Assuming it even comes out on the current estimated release date, that is.

I don't believe the devs didn't have time to finish the demo - in fact, I think their #1 priority was the console versions to begin with! PC platform was LAST on their list - and they know that console games sell more than PC games period.

I just do not like how big companies are doing to PC platform these days - milking every penny from console gamers - why even bother with an 8800GTX when these big companies choose to support the 360/ps3 instead!? It's not the devs fault - it belongs to the marketing and the execs at Midway - a bunch of guys who don't make games at Midway but instead mess up the whole PC game industry - axx_holes

You can ACTUALLY QUOTE the spokesperson from Midway -

I recall reading that "since pc gamers have been waiting oh so long for the PC demo of Stranglehold, we are ensuring it will be a great demo indeed" - not literally, but most of the words are exactly that I recall...

I'm just pissed I spent time downloading 2GB worth of HIGHLIGHT VIDEOS! You guys will understand what I mean when you try to exit the game - lol, good luck hitting ESC, just alt-tab and kill that retail-stranglehold.exe process instead!

OK - I've given up trying to hack my screen resolution change .

It's a friday, going to enjoy the day outside - enough of this waiting and praying bullsxt.

I'm done with stranglehold - in fact, I might as well pick up the 360 version and enjoy it. I will stretch the legs of the 8800GTX when crysis comes out with their demo. At least I know for sure it's not going to be in 1024x768 lol!

What a laughing joke - I hope this thread gets on the net and displays how bad marketing and execs at midway are! It's NOT the developers that do this to us gamers - it is seriously the good for nothing - self promoting - self inventing job position people at the higher level in the company that make these bone head decisions on what to push out.

I just feel sorry for the developers who get an earful from internet users who read threads like these - because this game is a wonderful game (on the 360) but seriously, the PC gaming is coming to an end. I truly hope that CRYSIS will be all that since it's really hyped - and if it does work out being game of the decade, the PC gamers will have some hope left.

Seriously, why pay $600 for a video card when you can get a 360 for $279+ and play the games instead!??! I just hope Crysis will show Midway and other game publishers that PC gamers are still gamers - a disrespect like this should not be tolerated!

@blenderhead-

The game plays fine - but I can't see poope! 1024x768 is balogna! I have an 8800GTX on a 24" lcd and you tell me if 1024x768 is going to cut it!? It' s at 1:1 so it's like a small as_s box smaller than my 17" LCD lol.

I played up to the hanging pigs in the freezer and I quit - just not enjoyable right now @1024x768.

That is why most game mfr's are going console first, then porting to pc.

Even ID Software is going to go console first.

Sad for us pc gamers.

I'm pissed, too..
This poop's all over the place, almost every game that gets developed for consoles and pc, they screw us over. Forums are full of complaints from pc-lovers that have huge problems with their games thanks to stupid crap-ports.

Almost every publisher ran screaming for the door when they heard they can make more money with the box and the station.
It's way more than sad, because if it weren't for us, these publishers would have never become that big.

Hell, even Bioware is doing poop now box-exclusive. Yet they still claim to be a pc-company..(right, and we get Mass Effect when?) It really sucks, but since we're no longer the hand that feeds them and more poeple get attracted to gaming, there's nothing we can do about that.

It's always about maxin out the muffin profits, not the love for gaming, that's what really pisses me off.

I will definitaly wait with my purchase and carefully read the forums, cause it will be like every other port, filled with cupcakes and shame.

I just registered to say this is disgusting. I had a bad feeling when the demo came close to hitting 2gig when I'd read posts from console users claiming the demo only lasted about 15 minutes.... but to hear that the reason its soo big is because theyve stuffed it full of advertising videos?

AND you cant change the resolution?

The thing that REALLY hurts its all the lies we get fed about how its not a port, they care about pc gamers, the demos going to be optimmised for pc! Yeah, well get fucked. Im not paying for marketing stupidity

That's not the point. This is a demo and should DEMONSTRATE what the retail-game is going to be like. What's with that? If they would really care about pc-gamers, they would have released a demo where you can do at least the BASIC-stuff like changing res and controls, don't you think?
And if they had made a good demo they wouldn't need such big vids going with it, cause people would be convinced by the game itself.
If I want to see trailers, I go to gametrailers.com, if I want to play a demo, I want to actually PLAY it, not sit there and watch (or wait much longer for the demo to download, just to see things in the vid that i would have seen anyway if they had done their homework)
Would be ok if it would only last 15 minutes but 2 gigs just to include some vid? C'mon..
I don't know but this sounds anything but user-friendly to me.

Lmao of course, it would be asking too much that we can actually change the resolution.. did midway go 5 years back promoting this game? this has to be a joke really...
