Hi
Please write about your experiences with the Stranglehold xbox360 demo.
What about graphics, gameplay, controls and the camera?
Are you satisfied about what you saw in the demo?
It would be great if you write a small report about the demo....

best regards

aaron

Well I feel since you guys took the time to make a demo, its only fair that we give you the input necessary to make it better.

First off let me say by making this demo available a month before the games release you are giving it a 100% better chance of succeeding. I for one am going to buy this game now because of this demo. They are by far the most effective way to market your product.

The game was alot of fun for me the first time though, I only got to play about 20 minutes of it, but there are many things that still standout fresh in mind as I type on my computer. Thats a testament to how great your game design is, I can't wait to get off work to play it.

I'm going to just try and touch on a few points i thought worth noting.

One thing was the precision aim feature. I thought it was great that not only did you add the slow motion but extra moves as well, the precision aiming and spin attack are going to give the game legs. The only drawback I had with the precision was the animations seemed to be a little lacking. Yes they grab anywhere you shoot, which I must say is VERY impressive. I just hope that throughout the game those animations dont become rehashed. But I don't really think thats going to take away from the game at all, just a small point.

I really enjoyed the destructible environments. The last tomb raider touched on it a bit, but you guys have taken it to an extreme. Destructible environments will make for a lot of added replay. I also didn't expect when I took cover against a pillar that it was going to quickly become demolished leaving me sitting there in the open. It made for a great "oh crap!" moment.

The game felt very over the top but thats what you can expect from a John Woo game. It gives the game the presentation I think you guys were shooting for(no pun intended).

All in all I really liked this game, and I can't wait for its release. Thanks again for the demo!

haha, yeah but all the stuff in the way is realistic, more things to shoot the crap out of

looks like a ton of fun, as long as you call rally through checkpoints like that nice and fast

there are enough advantages for tequila that keep it interesting. cant wait to use automatic weapons

the graphics are extremely impressive, everything is very easily distinguished (enemies), frame rate is great

bravo on including xbox live, the multiplayer looks like a ton of fun...the characters looks funny as hell divin around eachother.

i will definitely buy this game, will their be point/ranking systems for online?

when you finish the demo, i feel the cinematic promos might reveal too much, cause they look like some amazing parts in the game

I didn't have a problem with the camera. I like the fixed view, but the mouse moves slowly. It's very easy to aim.

After playing the demo all the way through about eight times, I have to say I've found some things that irk me. Now I'm not saying that I won't buy the game, but these things have annoyed me enough to not give the game a total "thumbs-up"

Such as:

Way too many health packs.

If I'm playing the game on the "Hard Boiled" difficulty level why do I still get loads of health pack dotted everywhere? Surely the idea of a higher difficulty level is to make the game harder? Or am I going nuts? And I know people will say "Don't use them" but if I'm going to die and have to do a whole section again, then the temptation's gonna be there, right? And I really want that game to last my a fair while. I'd hate to finish it in a day like a certain game called Max Payne......

Odd frame rate drops/tearing in 720p

I can't figure out why the framerate drops at the strangest times in the demo. Like when I'm walking through the kitchen. There's no-one around me for god's sake! But there's no slowdown when I'm running through 25 bad guys, whilst blowing up a whole building!

I've also noticed that sometimes there's a small amount of "tearing" just at the top of my display when moving slowly from side to side. It seems to vanish when there's more on screen! Which is the total opposite to what normally happens to 90% of 360 games. Not a huge biggy though.

No difference in AI on harder difficulty levels

Now I don't know if it's me, but why do the AI do exactly the same thing all the time in every difficulty level? They stand in the same place, do the same thing and HARDLY move around. Here's one example.......

I was playing on the demo on the "Hard Boiled" level, and I got to the "market" area where 10 million "baddies" try and gun you down after you shoot the bloke with the shotgun. All I had to do was run into a corner of the map, and wait for my health to replenish, they dive out of cover and shot the lot of them! None of the AI came looking for me apart from one NPC. The rest just sat there shooting at walls! I can understand on the lower levels having the AI "dumbed down" a bit, but there just didn't seem a whole lot of difference from one difficulty to the next (other then the AI causing more damage when they shoot you)

Very shiny faces and odd lighting

I have found that moving the gamma down a bit helps, but most of the faces in the game look like they have been smothered in baby oil. Can this be toned down? It looks a bit unnatural........

Problems with "locking" into cover on posts

Sometimes in the middle of a firefight, I found it quite hard to "lock" into cover. It's seems that you have to find the "sweet spot" on the upright posts. If you are running towards one of them at a quick pace and press the cover button, more often them not, nothing happens. You have to centre yourself then try again. Maybe it's just me.......

Right that's my rant over with. Now as I've said I DO like this game. I just highlighted some concerns that I have about the game that I would like to be addressed. If they aren't, then I will still buy Stranglehold. It's just I have been a fan of John Woo's movies for fifteen years, and this is a dream come true to me. Maybe I just want too much from this because I've been waiting for a "Woo" game for so long.........

I thought that overall the demo was awesome. The gameplay is much of what I expected from seeing videos of the game for over a year.

The only thing that really bugged me about the game was the camera. If the Devs can get the camera to feel just a bit more like the player is actually in control I think this game will be scrumtralescent. Don't get me wrong though the camera isn't too bad. It's just that it feels that camera is lagging behind the player especially since you move so fast in the game and are constantly diving, sliding, running, kicking major a**.

Since you wanted us to share an exp. we had with the demo. I would have to say that one of the best moments I've had is when you're fighting the enemies for the first time that are standing on catwalk's. I just got precision aim and I thanked JC for it. I aimed for one guy's head and as I was aiming he put his arms up in the air as if to taunt me saying, "You can't hit me". So I shot my bullet and as the camera followed the trail of death all the way to his head he stumbled back into a sign, the sign swung backwards and then came back down knocking the other enemy on the catwalk to the ground.

Hands down that was the best moment I've had besides shooting the gangsters in the nards. Great times.

I really enjoyed the demo a lot. And the Massive D (whoever named it that should get an award) makes the game friggin sweet. It adds a whole completely different level of immersion into the world and makes you really feel like you're in a John Woo movie.

I think that the demo proved to me that this game is going to be amazing. Again the only real problem I had with the game was the camera, but other than that it was awesome. I hope that the final game is just as amazing.
Thanks for making my dreams come true...in two weeks.

The sliding is kind of weird, but you get used to it.I thought it was awesome how you could kick over the tables and duck behind them. The destruction is amazing when you go into barrage.I was amazed that it actually allows you to slide under the tables, too. applause

I loved the demo on 360, I found the controls took awhile to get used to but once that orientation phase had passed they felt really good. I've played the demo half a dozen times and its a lot of fun, the only problem I've encounted that a few times I've fallen through the bottom of the level, and got stuck, the only option has been to restart from the last checkpoint.
A friend of mine played who is less experianced with video games and he found hard to to get to grips with the controls, he is also color-blind and found it hard to see the enemies especialy when the screen turned yellow monotone. In all its a great looking game, and one that I can play over and over again, I love experimenting with the physics, trying to get the most cinematic experiance each time I play.
