That would make the PS3 verison of STRANGLEHOLD even more inversatile.
I understand that HARD-BOILED movie was meant as a supplement material to compliment the game.
But it would have been much more accessible if the programmers has allowed the movie to be playerable on standalone BLU-RAY players.
That just makes the movie extra too exclusive. *sigh*

I understand your frustration. I'm a little sad about it, too, since I'm planning to get the XBox version.

The PS3 collector's edition will have Hard Boiled for Region 1 only. If your system does not support Region 1, you can wait for Hard Boiled to be released on its own in Blu Ray and HDDVD.

I have been told that the movie will be for region 1 only, but let me see if I can get a definitive answer for you guys.
And to answer this question, I'm being told that the Collector's Edition (PS3) is North American region disc only.

Just to be crystal clear about this, the game and the movie are not region free. The Collector's Edition is just for Region 1.

Dang. Thanks for getting the information about that though as I was planning on ordering it from stateside. I suppose there isn't any last minute UK collector's edition announcement coming is there  ?

When did this forum turn to a fanboy area? Echo, you keep informing people that 360 version is the way to go, and that the game itself is region locked for PS3. You know that would be the first ps3 game to have such a thing, why in the world would Midway do something so stupid?? I don't even understand why they would limit the movie to US only, i guess they haven't realized that the biggest PS3 console base is here in Europe, and doing stupid things like this makes you lose customers. Region lock on a game? Retarded, thats all i can say. Another customer lost though this was one of the games i was waiting for the most.

I can fully understand you and think the same. But if Midway want to loose customers that way its their problem. Iknow many people who have ordered the US version not only because of the Movie but also because they thought all games on the PS3 are regionfree.

The assumption there is Midway are doing anything stupid. The film will probably have different film rights for different regions. Midway will be contractually bound to that. For a similar reason the disc will only play on PS3, I'm sure they could have set it to another "title" on the disc so it would play in standard Blu-Ray players but they've probably been dis-allowed by the movie company that is holding the rights.
I've no doubt that they, if they could, would try and sell the Collector's Edition everywhere with a region free disc; it certainly would push their sales.
So, yes, I'm of the opinion that it sucks that we can't watch it over here. Hard Boiled is the definitive HK-action film in my mind and I'd love a Blu-Ray version but I understand how the movie industry tends to be about region locking and this sort of thing didn't really surprise me even if it did disappoint me.
