April 23, 2007 - You love slow-motion to a fault, train white doves to hang around gunfights, and you own a special edition of Broken Arrow .Yeah, we know the type. You're a John Woo fanatic.
While the wait for Midway's upcoming Stranglehold seems longer than Tom Cruise's hair in Mission Impossible 2, you can shortly get your Woo-fix in a new short film contest, sponsored by Midway and Fox Interactive Media, and judged by the man himself.
Launching April 30, Stranglehold's True to John Woo short film contest charges fans to produce a two-minute, 30 second short that pays homage to Woo's films, with a special emphasis on the Jean-Claude Van Damme classic Hard Target. Fine, so we made that up, but who doesn't love Wilford Brimley with a bow and arrow on horseback?

The folks at Midway are sifting through all of the entries to pick the Top Ten. By July 2nd, John Woo will choose one video from the Top Ten as the winner for the John Woo Award. Starting July 9th, YOU can vote for the best True to John Woo video on MySpace.

Attention Stranglehold, John Woo and independent film fans, Midway today announced the beginning of the Audience Award voting phase for the True to John Woo Short Film Contest. The Audience Award voting phase began at 12:00am on July 16th and will continue until 11:59pm on July 30th. The Audience Award winner will be selected by MySpace users from a group of ten deserving short films found on the Stranglehold MySpace profile (www.myspace.com/strangleholdgame). Individuals may vote once a day, every day until the end of the voting period. Stranglehold is currently scheduled for release on August 20, 2007.
The short film with the most votes will win the following prize package:
• $1000.00
• A gaming PC featuring AMD and ATI components
• A copy of the Stranglehold video game for a platform of the winner's choice
• A framed Hard Boiled poster signed by John Woo
