is mksm canon? or not much debate over this i for one think it is and will post why once someone disagrees

Well i thought it was mostly canon.. on some parts not soo much... but yes most of the game was canon imo because most of it followed the story of MK2 in which it was supposed to....

You obviously weren't here for all of the topics when people were complaining on MK:SM being canon or not when it first came out. I wasn't but I've gone back to early topics and read up about it. Wikipedia actually gives a few good facts as to why it isn't canon. The game as good but Midway just didn't pay enough attention. Here's a few:
Baraka was supposed to be "killed" by Kung Lao's hat slice Fatality which brings him to his appearence in MK4 becaue Shinnok kinda found him and stapled him together. It turns out Baraka might've had some type of healing ability which is why he was back to looking as he was in MK:D.
The fact that in Baraka's bio it says that the tarkata live in the Wastelands was ignored as well. In almost every different enviornment there was tarkatans except for the the Wastelands. You would've actually expected them there of all places.
Another fact Midway forgot to look into was the fact that Kung Lao was completely against Goro for killing his ancestor. Kung Lao actually wasn't after Goro in the story until MK4 however because he had thought him to be dead after MK1. I just think he would've been more driven to beat him.
And as I've said about the reason Kano and Sonya went missing: After Shang Tsung's defeat at the hands of Liu Kang, he made a final attempt to escape to Outworld and leavethe island to crumble on Lui Kang and the others. In the choas, Johnny Cage, Sonya, and Kano fought Goro at The Pit and Raiden could only save Johnny Cage before the other three were lost. Goro was presumed dead until later years while Kano and Sonya were found alive by Kahn's guards and taken prisoner. That leads up to their MK2 appearence being chained up.
And of course the deaths are completelly non-canon. No one except Mileena (killed by Kitana but in MK:SM was one of the few villians to not die), Baraka (Kung lao's hat slice), and Kintaro (vaporized by Raiden) had really had Fatalities done to them. Shao Kahn didn't really die. He actually was beaten by Liu Kang to the point of death so Kahn gets pissed and drives the heroes off with his minions and while everyone else escaped, Johnny Cage was caught and killed. Jax also was able to release Sonya and along with her, Kano. Kano was able to escape after being released and became one of Kahn's troops in MK3 so he didn't really die as such.
Ya, there really was no happy MK2 ending.
There's a lot more you can find on Wiki but those are some facts I don't think they pointed out. Some other things such as Reptile really did serve Shang Tsung in MK1 though he claims he didn't in MK1, that Jax couldn't open portals until later MK games, and that Liu Kang's home was already destroyed when he came back to it after MK1. Just look it up.

Any game that's not MK:SM in the MK universe in canon. All endings have canon facts to them but most aren't neccasarilly completely canon. Like if Ermac's ending wasn't true, then that means it didn't really happen but that is what would've happened. Endings can be looked at as "What If?"s.

First, forget about the comic. This is a video game franchise. I believe the only canon comic is the official MK1 comic because it was featured in the MKDA Krypt.
Also, forget about the manual stuff. It was only said there that Kintaro was vaporised, no confirmation in the game. The only reference of Kintaro was in MKD where the armies of Kahn said Kintaro (or was it Reiko? I really am not sure) made it possible for them to invade Edenia again.
Fatalities might be non-canon. Or not. Come on, there Flesh Pits to form new bodies and the souls were hanging around when Shang was "killed".
About Kahn's death, Flesh Pits again. And I'm pretty sure I saw some "Soul Cage" concept somewhere (MKDA?) that Kahn uses to protect his own soul from the likes of Shang Tsung and you can see those Soul Cages in the background of Kahn's throneroom in MKT.
About Baraka, he was Fatality's by Kung Lao in MKT, not MK2.
That's all I can say from the top of my head.

Okay fine. You can say whatever you think is right. But it still contradicts a lot of facts from the video game bios and endings themselves.
