I prefer Scorpion in MKSM, but those two and Sub-Zero are awesome as well.

Yeah I liked scorpion a little bit better, but I think Sub Zero SM ninja suit one is better than scorpions.

I don't hate Liu Kang. I actually have appealed to him more since MK:SM. He still isn't a top 10 favorite though. Kung Lao just looks better and has better moves though.

He does. And that's what gets me. Him and a few other characters look better in a remake game of an older MK meaning that they look not as good in the future around Armageddon. The MK:D Liu Kang human looked too thrown together.

I figured that was supposed to be the case since wasn't he added at the last minute? And really he was more of a hidden character than really being involved in the story.
