I played the first one right into the ground and it has me pondering will Midway make a sequel or was this a one-shot?

If there is one, I sure hope it hasn't been started yet. They should be concentrating fully on MK8. After that they can get to work on MKSM2, if there is going to be one.

they might make an mk3 adventure game,but it's not going to be called mksm2.

I don't think there'll be another one. But if they do make one, it would be focused on the MK3 storyline.
