Isn't Liu the descendent of Kung Lao. I know at least Kung was killed before Liu Kang entered the tornument or else Kung would have entered it to. So how are they fighting together? (Don't flame me because I do not own the game, nor have I played it)

No but Kung Lao lived before Liu Kang. I don't remember where I heard that. Yah because wasn't Kung Lao the old champion before Liu?

The Great Kung Lao is the ancestor one. He lived more than 500 years ago. Kung Lao is his descendant.

Don't you mean descendant?
Liu Kang was originally the descendant of the Great Kung Lao, I think. It was retconned.

At different points, both Liu Kang and Kung Lao have been called the last decendant of Great Kung Lao (and once there was a typo that called Liu Kang Great Kung Lao's ancestor). It is possible that they both are the last decendants, as they may be cousins however many times removed.
