It does make sense but then it still doesnt go with the MK story because in the third tournament Kahn is back and Quan Chi was still not around until after then next two tournaments which was Ultimate and Trilogy, then when MK4 came he finally showed his face. After all, the game takes place around MK2 that is what I think it doesnt really make sense for him to appear randomly. I enjoyed the ending but it was like wait a sec...
MK3, UMK3 and MKT are the same tournaments. 
Judging from his looks in MKSM, there might be an involvement of time-travel, though.
well if he hasnt hes worn the same clothes for more than 10 years.....ewww
And somebody before mentioned that a lot of stuff in MkSM is non-canon. Please elaborate.

Anyways, as we all know, Quan Chi comes to Shao Kahn's arena at the end and picks up the Sacred Amulet from Shao Kahn's remains. Nearly everyone said that this makes no sense. Nearly everyone who said it, was wrong. It has been said nearly a hundred times that the portals between Earthrealm and Outworld are locked tight and they can only be unlocked by the unbalancing of the Furies which is through Mortal Kombat tournament which Shao Kahn didn't win. So, how did he unlock it? Of course, by using an ancient artifact that can open inter-realm gates: Shinnok's Amulet.
Well, if Shao Kahn had Shinnok's amulet in MK2 why didn't he invaded Earthrealm at once?

Because he didn't know how to use it. Remember, even Quan Chi learned how to use it in MKDA.

hey all,, when i was playing mksm,, when you die you can read a message before you press continue or exit
its kind of a tip every one dies he press continue and there is a tip above the continue or exit,,,,,,
i have read once a tip wrote in it : If you beat quan-chi you will know all secrets . thats means that we must defeat Quan-chi as it said

It's most likely an easter egg. Though, it was confirmed there is one secret still to be found.

QUAN CHI USED A TIME MACHINE SO HE COULD GET THE AMULET FOR SHINNOK,AND WHY WOULD HE GIVE THE TOOL OF THE GODS TO SHINNOK YOU ASK?CUZ SHINNOK SED HE'D GIVE QUAN CHI AN AFRO.
