...makes sense a lot. I wanted to post this to Mortal Kombat General Discussion as it is viewed more but this is about MKSM so I had to post it here.
Anyways, as we all know, Quan Chi comes to Shao Kahn's arena at the end and picks up the Sacred Amulet from Shao Kahn's remains. Nearly everyone said that this makes no sense. Nearly everyone who said it, was wrong. It has been said nearly a hundred times that the portals between Earthrealm and Outworld are locked tight and they can only be unlocked by the unbalancing of the Furies which is through Mortal Kombat tournament which Shao Kahn didn't win. So, how did he unlock it? Of course, by using an ancient artifact that can open inter-realm gates: Shinnok's Amulet.

People said it was wrong because Quan Chi was supposed to have the amulet, yet somehow at the end of MK2 Shao Kahn had the amulet.
Anyways here is my interpretation of the story. In MK Mythologies, Sub-Zero actually snatched the fake amulet from Shinnok (since Quan Chi kept the original). At the end of the game Sub-Zero gives the fake amulet to Raiden. Now fast forward to MKSM/MK2, it shows that Shang Tsung manages to capture Raiden, its quite possible that the amulet was still in Raiden's possession and that Shang Tsung stripped it from Raiden and gave it to Shao Kahn, or that Shao Kahn stripped the amulet.
It would mean that Shao Kahn had the fake amulet. This actually makes sense and answers another question for us. In MK4 we knew that Shinnok had possession of the fake amulet again, now it appears that we know that Quan Chi took it from Shao Kahn after MK2 and gave it to Shinnok.
