Help with Scorpion

I'm a newbie to MK Deception. I went out online the other night and got completely pwned playing Scorpion. It was fun and all but I would like it better if I could win a match!
Does anyone have any tips on how to play Scorpion effectively?

I can give you some tips.
Ok, if you are verusing Onaga, go up to him, and do some fast combos. Do that alot, and run back when he swings at you. I can help you more, if you tell me if you got PS2, Xbox, or GameCube, because there are diffrent buttons for diffrent systems.

I've got an Xbox.
I love Scorpion's spear throw move but everyone I played was looking out for it. The teleport attack seems effective if you can time it right.

If you're playing against the computer, turn the difficulty down a bit until you get used to the moves and controlls. If you're playing against other players that are beating you, you need to practice more and improve your strategy. Remember, timing and the block button are your friends. Don't just spam moves that you know how to do, stick and move. Scorpion is probably best played defensively because his attacks are more counter than offensive.
Let the other player try to attack you and block or side step, then do the spear or teleport kick and go into a combo from there. Just remember to block and counter, you should do fine.

You need to practice. Try out his combos in Practice Mode until you can do them. Then test your skill in Arcade mode put the difficulty on novice then when you beat the game on novice put it on a higher difficulty.

You don't have to use Scorpion just because he's your favorite character or something, he's not very good online. The Spear rarely/never works and the tele-kick is bad, his combos are not really good either. You know, Kenshi is one of my favorite character in Deception because he's in the Special Forces, but I rarely use him.

you can land a spear (or two in a row) when ever you want. you can either sidestep and go for it. or, hit them with U+4 (thrust kick) and spear them out of the air.
if you wanna get 2 spears in the same combo..just spear, sidestep, then spear again.
if you're gonna be affective with scorpion, juggle, juggle, juggle. his highest damage comes from juggle combos.
also, try to avoid using his teleport kick when you side step. most of the time, the opponent will have enough recovery time to block you (if youre gonna side step and counter, use his throw or a combo). its only good for countering..mostly projectiles. if someone tries to freeze you, as soon as you see it coming, nail them with the teleport kick.
the hellfire is probably the most imortant special move he has, as it's unblockable. after knockdown moves (like Moifah B+1) or knockdown combos (like hapkido 2-3-B+1) the hell fire will add extra damage at the end. if you hit it right after, it wont add much. so if you can time it to when your opponent is getting back up, then you can add a little bit more damage.
you need to learn his basic attacks. youre always gonna get wooped if you dont know the character that well. practice man. it does a body good.

I used to use 2,3,up+4 and then his longest listed combo and end with a hell fire.
Also switch up from 2,3,up+4 and forward+3,back+3 it works wonders!
*All of the above kombos start in Hapkido(sp?)*
Oh, and incase you didn't know already. As long as you don't switch the button functions.

You mentioned online, so here's the online strategy...
When fighting against Scorpion...
Pick a fighter with quick attacks that have decent range and fast fireballs. Kobra has some very quick attacks but not the best range for some. Liu Kang has some good quick attacks, same with bo rai cho, shujinko and Sindel. Most of the fighters have a good quick attack to ue for coutnering. The Quick attack can be a regular button move, or a special move depending on how fast it is.
Use the fireballs whenver you block the spear attack if you are too far to combo.
Scorpion usually starts a combo (in his first stance) with a couple of jabs, when you block a the jab, keep blocking until the end of the combo. When the combo finishes, there is enough of a pause to conter with your own, this is when you use the "Quick" attack that is mentioned above.
When scorpion is in his Weapon stance, keep your distance, throw fireballs, and stay away. If you can't then block any overhead sword attacks and watch out for cheap throws.
Anytime Scorpion ends an attack that knocks you up in the air, prepare to land and tech roll to the side, otherwise you can be tagged with his Hell Flame.
